Default SOLVED - Need to find a song title with no lyrics!!

Hi all, new to this forum.

This one might be a challenge. I am looking for a song from the 80s (pretty sure), that sounds very similar to The Captain Of Her Heart by Double. The beat rhythm is nearly identical. The person singing the tune sounds a lot like Peter Gabriel (it could be him but if I knew for sure, I would not be posting here, and yes, I have previewed many of his songs on Amazon and have not found the tune). The opening verse, I believe, starts in the E chord. I'm afraid I know no lyrics to the tune. It's one of those tunes I heard a lot in the 80s and the last time I heard it was on the radio around 1999 or 2000. I wish I could be more specific. Hopefully, someone will know this tune off the top of their head. Looking forward to any replies.

Thanks for that suggestion as well, that's not the one either. I wish there was more I could tell you about this tune. Perhaps the brainstormers out there could ask me some questions that hopefully I can provide the answer to?

If there is a particular passage of 'The Captain Of Her Heart' that reminds you of the other song, you could post the start time in the video...

Try these songs which come from suggestions on other forums...

    Hi,

It isn't Joe Jackson or Elton John. The part of Captain Of Her Heart that reminds me of this particular tune is from 1:03 and 1:08, without the piano arrangement (which happens repeatedly throughout the song). The keyboard work is similar except where this song has an A minor chord at 1:03, the tune I am thinking of is an E chord, and then moves down like around 1:05 and 1:06. And the tune I am thinking of has this arrangement as an opening verse, not the chorus like on Captain Of Her Heart. To compare the singers, if you were to consider the singer of Captain Of Her Heart's vocal range, the singer of the tune I am thinking of is an octave higher, and I would compare the voice to Peter Gabriel. I think my next step might have to be to hum the part, and I don't even know if I would get that right. I appreciate your questions.

What type of song are you looking for, for example: Rock ballad, Pop, Dance?

If you know of a similar type song in regards to genre, that will help.

Do you recall if this song had a music video?

It would definitely be considered Rock, not sure if I would classify it as a ballad or not. Not the type of song you would waltz to, so I guess my deductive reasoning would say it is not a ballad. Captain Of Her Heart would be the similar tune, and I know that is a more jazzy tune than anything but I would still consider the song I am thinking of Rock. Don't know if this song had a video but if I was to guess, it is likely since I believe it did receive quite a bit of airplay. Not sure if it made the Billboard 200 or not, or what year it was released so my guess is suspect at best.

I would suggest checking out some 'Phil Collins' songs and 'Genesis' at www.Discogs.com

    I found the tune.

I'll admit, when I saw your suggestion of checking into Phil Collins and Genesis, I thought to myself that I am very familiar with both bands and have a number of albums by them, but I remembered that the band Mike & The Mechanics, Mike specifically, was a part of Genesis. I looked through some of their hits and after the ninth song, struck gold. The song was called Taken In.

    Many thanks once again!
