Steve and Frankie ....this is for you guys

Paul....I'll post it to B's facebook page and mine too.

when coming to try and comprehend Amedi's lyrics, one has to take into consideration the maturity of this guy,
his army life experiences, the fact that he was born in Jerusalem and his religious beliefs.
Of all Israeli singers he reminds me the most of Yiannis.
Their total lack of vanity is extrodinary.
They are both huge stars and there is no trace of that in their discourse.
Just a couple of sweet and talented performers who happen to be loved admired and worshipped by millions of women

    TO YOU – IDAN AMEDI
How many mazes will I go through on my way to you?
How many mountains and worlds will I destroy and not remember?
In the sea of war I fight to see your eyes
Without even knowing if they want to see me

It's the second winter I run on the way to see you
The wet foggy roads prevent me from seeing
And with every step in the way I pray to hear your sounds
Shouts that say you've silenced are calling me back

    Chorus:

The voices, the human fractures I'll give to you
And the forever annoying wind, it will never heal
Past disappointments disguise as hopes while I whisper you
So you'd know I've been trying for a long time

I sit in the cage waiting to devour your fears
And when we talked at one time, you said they're very big
Inside a wolves' garden that are gathered to conquer your life
A wolf ready to protect you with his life, wasn't left behind

    Chorus:

The voices, the human fractures I'll give to you
And the forever annoying wind, it will never heal
Past disappointments disguise as hopes while I whisper you
So you'd know I've been trying for a long time

You should have seen his auditioning for Kochav Nolad....
He entered the room ...so tall and shy ....Dana International who was one of the judges fell in love and wouldn't hide it

The best thing would be to register and log on to MAKO ...this way you'll have access to all auditions and performers of Kochav Nolad ...Chen Aharoni...Boaz Ma'uda, Shiri Maimon....and of course Idan

    http://www.mako.co.il/mako-vod-keshet/idol

Idan is a brilliant lyricist...it's quite a challenge to translate his words since so many of them are Bible oriented ...
For example - Zman Ne'eela ....zman=time ne'eela = lock out ; closing BUT it is also the closing prayer on Yom Kippur the holiest day of the year for us Jews.
so the context changes completely. Now he no longer means the end of a time unit of some sort but a time of reflection and repentence.

Another interesting choice of words from a different song....leta'tspet al hatikra . al hatikra= at the ceiling .....letatspet= look;stare;observe;watch BUT this word is used almost ALWAYS and ONLY in military context. why would a person use this word and later say that the ceiling is almost clean....in what other disturbing circumstances do ceilings get dirty ?
These phrases are all over his lyrics and they elevate his texts and add them deeper meaning and interesting layers.

Idan takes his listeners to a journey and shows them images of his life, especially the military part, using phrases hints and clues.
My son serves in his unit....and I think Idan told me more about the "job" than Alon ever did in the past 2.5 years.
He is a true artist , a fascinating story teller.

Also, for such a young artist, to have an entire disc all written and composed by him .....is a huge achievement.
    I you too Paul
I love all my friends but you have a special place in my

I do understand you! AFter a couple disasters in Turkish internet shops I also became more cautious. But this page at least offers its services in English and looks pretty user-friendly.
If you decide upon using it with successful results, lemme know, will you?

    Patricia, you're absolutely right!!!!!
Why not sending Idan Amedi (or Ivri Lider or Nathan Goshen) or our sweetheart Harel ?????!!!!
Why hiding such treasures at home, huh????

    Hey Pauli
I can't believe your "boroch Mordechay..............."
So nice of you to learn our traditions............
I did survive the trip...I dare say ..BARELY
My students were so sweet ...
I think I've already mentioned the famous Jewish joke "They tried to kill us...they've failed...let's eat !!"
I think we should change it to "Let's shop"
The malls are packed with people who find shopping a good outlet to their boredom and angst.
I'm off to fix my phone and buy some clothes ))))))))))
I've posted a new song of Yiannis in the Greek thread ...I hope someone can help out with translation
Did you know that the Greeks have a similiar holiday called Apokries...or something like that...
    They also dress up ..........
I still can't get over you writing "arur haman" )))
Please don't envy our Passover.....it's an extended version of Spring Cleaning ....
I'll describe Yemenite women cleaning for the holiday on a different occasion
    I'm off ....

    Please don't mention Spring cleaning!
It's just the same here around Easter, which is a sort of Passover's equivalent also as regards Spring cleaning - one of the worst traumas of my childhood! (Only we don't clean the yeast away!)
