[SOLVED] Years of searching..
Hi, this is my first thread on this site. I am really hopeful that someone will be able to identify a peice oif music for me. I am sure many of you know Moby and have heard his song "Porcelain". The song im looking for has the same melody as the continuous synth sound in Porcelain, except each tone goes on for approximately twice as long, and the first note is slightly lower in pitch. Another likeness to my song would be "Heliosphan" by Aphex Twin, it has the same kind background tune. The song im looking for has very similare melody as the Helioshpan synth except, if i recall correctly, is made using (a) violin(s) and each cycle lasts a little longer. I dont recall any vocals in the song but i may be mistaken. Its a very powerful tune.
Im sorry about that large chunk of text, or if my information is not of much help but this site is pretty much my last hope of identifying an important song to me and one that i only vaguely remember from my childhood. Ive been serching for it for a number of years. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Hisky~

By any chance, could this be the song?

Hi, i was listening to some Diane Arkenstone for a sister thread and this came up as similar
7and5 - Amen (Album : In A Moment's Time 2005) (full play)
to get to the song simply enter 7and5 in the search box
Web site self-described as New Age/Chill

Much thanks for the replies, but sadly those are not the song i am looking for.
The song is frustratingly vague in my memory (i must of heard it at around age 11, which was 7 years ago), the only way i can think to describe it is that its pretty much exactly the same continuous tune from Heliosphan (link in original post), except the first note is slightly lower in pitch, the tune is played using violins, and the loop lasts for a little longer. I dont recall any drums, vocals or anything else except possibly a piano over the top.
Again thanks to all for the posts,
Hisky~

Kinobe - Slip Into Something More Comfortable? :-)

Sorry, but no. My song is purely violin and the tune which you suggested is very different.
Thanks anyway.

Once again, thankyou for your post, but no.
It seems that, overall, peoples suggested songs have 'too much going on'. As i recall, the song im looking for pretty much only consists of the basic violin melody i have previously described.

OK Hisky, I made a topic a while back about a song consisting of harmonic violins or possibly a violin and viola. Whenever you can you can take a look. I'm wondering if we are possibly looking for the same song.

Thanks for the reply, but i dont think the tune described in your thread is what im looking for. However, after reading through some more of your posts i understand that you have had a problem with trying to find a suitable online-violin-tune-creator type site, and i must say that i have had exactly the same problem. Many sites offer the ability to select samples of piano, guitar, drums, wind instruments etc but none that i have come across offer the violin samples i need, or even suitable synth mimics. I think if such a service was available then my song just might of been identified by now.
Did you have any success with http://www.pianoeletronico.com.br/index-es.html ? If so, i might consider a download.
Thanks again,
Hisky~

Ruling out existing songs which have been put to violins or other string instruments, one wouldn't think there are that many which are mostly violin.
The violin you mention with the long sustained notes reminds me of one song, however it isn't a true violin but a synth and the song has a few various mixes, so I'd guess the likely candidate would be the mix which is mostly acoustic - ie minus heavy drum machine etc. (I'm not sure such a mix exists, though discogs entry is promising - (General Electrik No Beats)
[i]"Heartstrings"[i] by Boo Boo and Mace
The version I remember from all those years ago did not quite match what I found today, I don't remember so much emphasis on the fast beat overlay, but perhaps my memory only remembered the nice melodic accompaniment , but possibly I heard a different mix played on the radio.

You got it. It has been quite a challenge to find one. I did find one that was decent enough, but the thing is it was decent enough for my tune. One that had the notes longer was this site, which would be better for your tune. http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/reso...no/strings.htm This next one is the one I used for mine. http://www.1millionfreegames.com/pla...-Keyboard.html since it plays shorter notes.

NOTE just an example of the string rendering on the software
So, here's my cat's latest on Piano Electronico...j/k
First playing it...
Recording live with Hypercam 2 to a huge AVI file (not needed)
Transforming that to an MP3 with Freemake (not needed)
Record in real time, Edit and Export as MP3 with Audacity.
Upload. All free. And it does work, (that is, for a musician it would...)
(main settings at 050-Strings 1 or 051-Strings 2, with 2 to 4 voices, octave 4 or 5)

Cheers for the responce. Unfortunately, the track which you have linked is not my song. I would be interested in a more acoustic mix though.

It was a long shot.
Hisky wrote "I would be interested in a more acoustic mix though."
Boo Boo & Mace - Heartstrings (General Electrik No Beats)
Still not the mix I remember being played, but listening to it, I'd guess it would be the most acoustic of mixes.
