To be honest, I have a difficulty as well to get the meaning behind the words in it....That's why I translated literally...

I know many translators get pissed off over the poetry in his songs...
I relate it to his humble beginning and his lack of formal education...it's a kind of over compensation....
vroxi ta asteria is a perfect example of an enigmatic text .
Word by word translation is more than enough...I guess it's up to us to do the deciphering .

"vroxi ta asteria" is an easy one though
I'd ask for the context of course because that phrase is usually connected to some other phrase before or after it, but...,
it's very common in Greek for the word "vroxi" to precede another noun (forming a figure of speech) for the purpose of emphasizing a situation or even just to give a sentimental "touch" to it...

It usually is a "on purpose" exaggeration...

for example: "vroxi ta lefta", which should mean something like "it's raining money" which of course can't happen,
but denotes "a lot of money"...

Our people loves them because of their songs and the way they approach crowd during their "concerts".
If someone decides to sing a good song with CRAPPY lyrics, it's ok with all of us.

Yes of course, Ploutarchos is a humble man, and a very respective artist who has sung too many GOOD songs.
So, I -personally- don't accept that "many translators get pissed off over the poetry in his songs...".

Listening to Yiannis, shows a good taste about music.

You are right...my impression of translators getting tired of trying to figure out what the hell the lyricist wanted, is based on that discussion.
You already know by now that I ADORE your music....Worship Ploutarxos and consider your language, culture and heritage the best in the world.

but you can always ask someone else to do it for you, here in ATL...You don't have to do it yourself...
There are so many competent translators of Greek language here... (well quite a few actually but their work is great, "big" and "many"...) so it shouldn't be a problem....

In general most of singers are not college graduates....still, yiannis often says how sorry he is for not mastering the Greek language as well as he wished ...this is , I think, why he tends to choose very poetic lyrics.

הוא בכלל לא יושב באותה מדרגה עם יאניס
כששאלו את יאניס האם מה שהוא עושה זה אמנות, הוא ענה "זה כנות" הוא לא מתיימר
אבל רואים בבחירות השירים שלו כמה המילה הכתובה והחוויה של המאזין חשובים לו
בשבע עשרה שנות קריירה הוא מעולם לא התבזה כמו דודו אהרון עם שירי האינסטנט שלו
