We're floating on a grain of sand in the vastness of space
If future generations are going to inherit this place
We've got to Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
    Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine

The tropical rainforest is disappearing more everyday
We'll never replace it, we'd better not burn it away
    Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
    Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

    If the skies are blue
    And the oceans too
Isn't this a better home for me and you?
    If the air is clean
    And the land is green
Wouldn't you like to be part of this lovely scene?

    solo

I'm thinking of the animals that once roamed the African plain
Their numbers have dwindled, pretty soon none will remain
    Save The Planet
Do something while there's still time
    Save The Planet
This earth is yours and mine
    Save The Planet
The wonders of nature are free
    Save The Planet
Have you ever planted a tree?

    Save The Planet
    Save The Planet
    Save The Planet
    Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
Save The Planet, Save The Planet
    Save The Planet
    Save The Planet

Every time I watch a "Nature Program"by the closing credits it's always the same moral;Too many people are pushing animals off what little habitat they have left, and what isn't being used for farm land is being cut down for timber. It's either people start using their common sense or it's "pretend it'll get better on it's own".
I guess I stand alone with these remarks.hmmm!

Thanks, Jim! Yesterday I watched a documentary where Palin is travelling through the Brasilian amazon. Apart from the animals also the number of small Indian tribes is dwindling. It is depressing to see, how moneymaking rushes over every bit of common sense
God bless, when Henry Ford hoped to start his rubber industries in Brasilia he miserably failed (Fordlandia, an island in the Amazone area is in ruins these days) but unfortunately only because some clever guy stole seeds to start producing rubber in Indonesia and Malesia, where forests dwindle at an amazing speed
GLAD YOU'RE ONE OF THE PROTESTERS!

Although I disagree that the planet needs saving (it's been here 5billions years, we have been here approx 200'000 years and it's still looking ok, the earth will shake us off like parasites when it has had enough of us and I think we have a while yet!) I have enjoyed reading these words. It's nice that people really care about the planet and this comes across from you in this piece wonderfully. I will say don't worry about it too much, you only have one life, spend it enjoying yourself and let the planet deal with the parasites that live upon it's green plains

There have been more species gone extinct in the history of the planet than that reside on it today. That is why the place does not need saving. Trees will continue to grow, plants will continue to produce life bringing oxygen and animals will come and go as evolution decides.

you sound like Alice in Wonderland, Experimentalist Jolly to be so optimistic; The plants and trees say "thank you"

Yes,trees will grow as will plants.I see them popping through the sidewalks all the time.It would be nice if Man didn't take all the other animals with him as he destroys this beautiful planet. It'd be nice if a few tribes of Man survived so they could teach future generations where we went wrong.

There are too few songs about the devastation of our environment, but this one is spot-on! It would be a shame if we have to tell the next generations that all those wonderful animals that once roamed the earth just ceased to be thanks to our carelessness and greed. It is true there have always been extinctions, but the rate at which species are disappearing is accelerating beacause of human behavior. On example:The blue tuna is on the brink of extinction in the Mediterranean Sea because of relentless fishing. It disrupt the ecological balance, causing jellyfish to multiply and plague Spanish coasts.

Man can always cutback on his fishing, hunting and logging. That's an easy choice. What's more difficult is trying to remove mercury from the water, the pollution from the air and the chemicals from the food we eat

Jellyfish thrive best in polluted water. Thus, for example, they're a nuisance around Greek waters.
Moratoriums on fishing work poorly, if at all, "thanks" to Norway, Iceland, Japan to name a few, as they empty the seas to keep their
whale and sushi eating populations happy
The Chinese especially believe in the power of the horns of the rhinoceros and find it necessary to hunt the last ones to improve their own "virility!"
    Lovely planet indeed.
We don't need to survive- somewhere else in the All probably live wiser men who make less mistakes.....

    Nice song !

As for saving the planet, I agree with Experimentalist when he says that the human being is only a very short story compared to how long the Earth and other forms of life on Earth have been there. But we still have a duty to keep it the way we'd like our children to find it. It might be a point of view very human-centered but if Earth needs to be saved, for me it would be because the next generation doesn't have to carry the consequences of our actions, doesn't have to fight for what we've tapped excessively and polluted to much.
