    Default The Drinkin's Not Over

Ole lady left me, took the kids and car
Left me with the mortgage and my liquor jar
My bar stools layin where the couch once sat
Hell she even took my dog and left the damn cat.

I'm sure I'll be sad when I get sober
    But that'll be awhile
    The drinkin's not over

I found my pictures all over the floor
The half with her wasn't there no more
My coffee table's now an album crate
And a chewed up Frisbee's my dinner plate

I know I'll feel bad when I get sober
    But that'll be awhile
    The drinkin's not over

I know I had it comin
But I think she went too far
She pulled the plugs on my Chevy truck
Now I can't get to the bar.

I know I'll feel down when I get sober
    But I've got a bottle
    The drinkin's not over

Yea, I'll crawl back to her when I get sober
    But that'll be awhile
    The drinkin's not over

    Yea, it'll be awhile
    The drinkin's not over

Doug, if it's been posted once before, it means he's drinking THAT heavily, lol
A song full of destructive thoughts, a shattered romance/relationship, followed by a wave of human destruction:
it's well written, the thought ain't nothing new, though frightening, sad and worrisome.
    Thanks, LooknGlass!

I'll be looking out for you!

Well-written song even if it's about a depressing subject. That's how women leave today. They take no prisoners.

You got that right Jim. Even though it is a tough scenario, I wanted to make it tongue in cheek so that the audience could relate without depressing them and to show we are not alone, that someone else has been there.

I can imagine the three-line chorus drawn out in a throaty country tune...or are you thinking rock? Nice, i like the words. Real too. Keep it up.

Definitely a country song my friend, I had a Tobey Keith like voice in mind when I wrote it. Thanks for reading and the comment.
