Very interesting information. Most of the western world now has no experience with wars. In America, you'd never know there are wars going on unless you or you relatives are soldiers. I have to assume that you were a soldier, too.

Oh,this must be something more than being cute, Steve, not every cute guy turns women into ovaries!

The voice is a powerful weapon and it looks like Idan has the right timbre

Hi everyone,

Batel-thanks for the explanation of Idan's song-I understood from the video that this was his "recreation" of Moshe Ohayon's letters in lyrics. I'll look for the translation.

I love both Ofra Haza and Glykeria, so here is a video with Ofra Haza and Glykeria together, where Glykeria talks about her love for Israel and about singing "Shabechi Yerushalayim" in Hebrew:

[Fu0rwFAm7pc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu0rwFAm7pc&feature=related

Ofra and Glykeria singing "Irissim" ("Γύρισε κοντά μου") together:

[dqAATolclSA]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqAATolclSA&feature=related

This is a Hebrew-language version of a famous "ελαφρό" ("light") European-style song from the 40's, performed by Stella Greka (many of the "European style" female Greek singers of this era adopted foreign-sounding artist names!).

http://www.hebrewsongs.com/song-irisim.htm

[gWDFFxKsemE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWDFFxKsemE

And Ofra Haza performing a Yemenite song together with Aharon Amram:

[71Gp3DM5ROQ]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71Gp3DM5ROQ&feature=related

I may have posted "Irissim" already...if so, I apologize!

NNNnnnno, I wasn't even half as charming or funny as "M"; I'd call it The "MM" factor where MM stands for my mother.
Lesson learned, though, thanx.

Maybe because we are on this large island, not really of course, but mentally...unfortunately. Hey, I didn't name it "world series" and I have people from Africa asking me why we don't change the name of our football to something else . Actually I play "soccer" almost every Sunday. We do have our enthusiasts. It is just a regular pick-up game but we have fun. The group was started by a German. Some of us are from Europe, Latin America, Africa, etc. We did have a member from Israel, but he moved .

Incidentally, my son lives in Amsterdam and is a football, futbol fußball, etc correspondent.

John Cleese has a nice video on Youtube where he teases Americans on this issue of Football VS. Soccer....
I don't mind that at all..it was simply an observation...I use it in my classes when I refer my students' attention to
the different Englishes....and YES in some cases we can multiply English, despite it being a non count noun.
It has to do with professional jargon......just like an economist will say moneys when referring to different currencies...
.
I'll miss you all....In five days I'll be going back to work and I hope to have time over the weekends to stop by and listen to music with you.
Eva.....I can translate it for you...let me know if you want me to.
Paul...that's OK...old habits are hard to kick ...I get it.
Rose...we should go to Mangas club and ask singers there to sing some of Mixalis songs....then take a photo of their faces in shock
Patt ....keep writing on my wall in your language....I love it
My nephew's circumsion ceremony is 10 hours from now...poor baby
Traguda Nereida ...thanks for all the music
Steve...keep jumping out of planes, playing soccer and dance to Israeli music...the combination is beyond my grasp...we live and learn
Yosis...keep up the good work
Sorry if I left someone out....I've been up since the day before last...got to get my biological clock back into order
See you on weekends

Steve ...found the Cleese video ...FUNNY
