Tedinky, about the word "грях" ('sin') - it's with a changeable я. There're a lot of words in Bulgarian with that kind of Я. Even, there're words with a changeable ъ (that's another rule). Let me give you some examples:

хляб - хлебарница (bread - baker's shop)
бял - бели (white (sng) - white (pl) - I bought a white T-shirt (Купих си бяла тениска) and I bought white T-shirts (Купих си бели тениски) )
ъгъл - ъгли (angle - angles)

About the rules:

Sometimes Я transforms itself into Е and vice versa (I mean E into Я) but that rule isn't valid about every single word with Я and/or Е.

In some forms of the word, Ъ is there (inside it I mean) but in the another forms Ъ disappears or changes its place.

If you didn't understand these rules or if you want more info and examples about that, write here and I'll try to explain them to you .

Well I have some weird question ... what's the real colour of Preslava's eyes ? In the video "Obicham te" her eyes are blue and in the other they're brown ...

I think theyr like mine- brown with a bit green... but generally brown..not blue for sure

well we call it"changeble я" it's from the old-Bulgarian and the Praslavic language i think.

So let`s do the phylologycal stuff now. The "Changeble я" comes from a vocal in Old bulgarian (Church bulgarian, Old Macedonian) which is called ""Ятова гласна" (yatova glasna). It looks like that -> ѣ . But this letter isn`t used any more in our alphabet, but she leaves a big problem with the vocal "я" . In sometimes we say it like "я" and sometimes like "e". Acctually there is a line colled "yatova granica" where the people say that vocal right (its in the center of bulgaria and the people in west say that changeble я like "е" and the people in east say that vocal always like "я") .
The vocal "я" ['а] is produced when the consonant before him is soft, or has й before the [а]

So when we say "я" and when "е"

We say "я" when

1) The word is with only one cyllables
example - хляб (bread) not хлеб, бял not бел etc...

2) я is stressed and the next syllable is hard (has the vocals а,ъ,о,у)
example - бЯгам, млЯко, вЯтър etc...

3) я is stressed and is in the end of the word
example - голЯм, живеЯ, презрЯл etc...

4) я is stressed and isn`t before hard [ш], [ж], [ч], [дж] (in bulgarian we call that group шушкави съгласни but there isn`t english term, or there is, but I don`t know about it

example - бЯгам, мЯтам

Now comes the tricky part - When we say "e"

1) The word has many syllables
example - грях - грЕхове not гряхове

2)я isn`t stressed. In that case there is no matter what is the next syllable - hard or soft.
example - бял - белотà, грях - грехòвен etc...

3) is stressed and the next sylable contains

i) [e] or [и]
example - смЯтам - смèтки, голЯм - голèми, хляб - хлèбен

ii)soft consonants whitch softness is writen with the letters я, ю, ь
еxample - дрЯмка - дрèмЯ,

iii) ж, ч, ш, щ, й. This letters make the historical soft syllables .

example - сняг - снèжен, грях - грèшка, някой - нèщо, пряк - прèчка, лях - лèйка

Yes. So you see the differences, because the norm I wrote in my last post.
The word грях has only one cyllable, so she is writen and said with я. But the word грехове has 3 cyllables and isn`t stressed So that`s why we say грехове not гряхове.
