Without Mirza Ghalib one just can't imaging urdu poetry.
hazaro khwahishein aisi ke har khwahish pe dum nikle, - Thousands of desires, each worth dying for...
bohot nikle mere armaan lekin phir bhi kam nikle, - Many of them I have realized...yet I yearn for more...
We have heard about the dismissal of Adam from Heaven, - nikalna kurd se adam ka sunte aaye hain lekin,
bohot be aabru hokar tere kooche se hum nikle, - With a more humiliation, I am leaving the street on which you live.
Word of the day: ţhanđ lagna - to feel cold- ٹھنڈ لگنا
Usage: بارش ہونے کی وجہ سے مجھے اج بہت ٹھنڈ لگ رہی ہے۔
Transliteration: bārish hone ki vajah se mujhe āj bohot ţhanđ lag rahi he.
Translation: I feel cold today because of rain.
Literally: rain happening of-reason-from to-me today very cold feel-ing is.
Notes:
- bārish hona means 'to rain'. When there is a post position in front of the infinitive 'hona', it changes the ending of the infinitive to from 'a' to 'e'. So hona becomes hone.
- ki vajah se means 'due to' or 'because of'
