The House Where Love Lived
I tended the tarnished pasture
That had been diluted by fraud
And of your frank omission
I would soon be assured
You'd left it instead to a friend of friend
Who made his pleasure quite plain
And as the rose wilted when the new bride was jilted
And left me to suffer in pain
The bird were busy singing
Of yesterday's melody
And of my voluntary submission
They sat and wept for me
So when they resumed with tomorrow's tune
All of their voices were broke
For they could see what'll happen to me
And on their tears they all choked
I sat shaking under the tree
Searching for clarity
You were the angel in the gutter
In all your holy vulgarity
The wasted expectation and premature elation
Of our tragic heroine
And to tormented perfection you had no protection
You just went to be seen
There was broken glass in the locket
When you greased the saviours palms
He provided cheap narcotics
And promised they would do no harm
And of the acclaimed beauty he said was his duty
To love and hold her for the night
I fell in awe at the abuse I saw
It kept me awake past light
You bragged of your deceit
As if victory in a you game
And I was left with defeat
Quivering with my shame
And you sat so proud dishonest and loud
Unaware of the vowels you had broke
And you left me alone when the motions were thrown
And the house of love went up in smoke
