    Default Nothing Left To Lose

    Whatever happened to freedom?
I gave it all away just to spend another day with you
    Whatever happened to silence?
I drowned it out forever so our hearts could beat together as one not two
    Whatever happened to breathing?
It was held under the water as I joined the sleepless pauper as only he can attest
    Whatever happened to friendship?
We put our speculations first and watched all the bubbles burst until no-thing’s left

Now as the world burns to glass we all separate by class
Let’s put the working class to rest, let all the rich infest what’s not worth fighting for
If we could see the other side of Jekyll’s inner Hyde would you still open up the door?
Or would you sneak out the secret window and leave me with the mournful widows
We both know it’s where I do belong
But will you catch me as I fall into the madness of your thrall
Just leave me here behind grant these vultures the meal of which they’ve been deprived
They’ve been oh so very patient to play as my abortifacient, how long can they circle above my head?
As I wait here to die I mark this spot with my decry
A message in the sand soon effaced by God’s right hand
As the light swallowed me whole and forced me to renounce my soul, I spoke, I spoke:

    Whatever happened to freedom?
I took it all away so you could find your way and break through
    Whatever happened to silence?
That game has long since been over, ended last time you were sober seems your mind has come unglued
    Whatever happened to breathing?
Breath was only mine to offer, turned down by restless fathers with no-thing left
    So whatever happened to friendship?
It grew into love, made angel out of dove but fate rendered you bereft

Once my questions were bled He turned to me and He said
Now let me ask what brought you to this task
To take the offer I gave and to throw it away
Did you give up the fight, did you lay down your life just for her, son?
Lord, you put me to the test and took me from my best
Left me to my dark memory due to your peremptory decree
This is not the first time I have died; you of all know just how empty I am inside
Was I to remain afraid of living every day of my life?
Not even you could replace the look of that smile on her face
All I ever heard was her voice beckoning through the noise, so

    Whatever happened to freedom?
You tethered me to my disarray, trapped to slowly decay and you knew
    And whatever happened to silence?
You brought it upon her but left me with her words so few
    Whatever happened to breathing?
You took back your offer; let her lungs fill up with water, you watched as she was put to rest
    Whatever happened to friendship?
My broken promise to her mother, I have lost another, this father has no longer a beating heart in his chest
