When you were just 18
You thought you knew everything
Where you’d go, what you’d do
The future all mapped out for you
Here we stand years later
You’re looking for something greater
All your plans have crumbled
How does it feel to be humbled?
Now every footstep you’re making
Someone’s already taken
Chorus:
Don’t you know
You don’t have it all figured out
Just let it go
You’ll never learn what life’s about
So be the wave
Leave a trail in your wake
Don’t be afraid
You miss every chance you never take
Thought you’d be in a bigger place
Now you’re just taking up space
In a box, in a room
In another tall building, with a top floor view
Here you stand before the window
Looking at your dreams passing by you
The voice of reason got in the way
Now you’re just working for the pay
Every footstep you’re making
Someone’s already taken
Chorus:
Don’t you know
You don’t have it all figured out
Just let it go
You’ll never learn what life’s about
So be the wave
That leaves a trail in its wake
Don’t be afraid
You miss every chance you never take
Bridge:
Every footstep you’re making
Someone’s already taken
So be the new wave that
Leaves a trail in your wake and
Just wash away
All the plans they’ve made
Don’t be afraid of change
And you’ll find your way
Chorus:
Now you know
You don’t have it all figured out
Just let it go
You’ll never learn what life’s about
So be the wave
That leaves a trail in its wake
Don’t be afraid
You miss every chance you never take

Every Chance You Never Take

Dear squishy3,
I checked out today's "What's New" and saw your song title: "Every Chance You Never Take." Because of the thought behind that title, I checked out your song.
IMHO, this is a good song, and I like it. I wish I could hear it to music! I have no major criticism of it, the sound is good and the English correct too! [Unless it would be "You'll miss every chance you never take." But there are other ways to say it, as you've done. Even beyond that is poetic license, which you've earned with this song (whether it's needed or not--as both ways of saying it probably work!)
Good job. And thank you for sharing your song. -
You have a truly remamrkable way with words, i can't fault this song in any way
