    Default The Inception

You can hear the voice of a harbinger’s calls
Still bellowing through blood soaked walls
    Telling the people to run
As there is nothing left but a bullet and a gun

If you listen carefully you will hear
    Voices calling out in fear
They all try to run away
But the darkness is here to stay

    The severed tormented souls
Sweat blood as they crawl across the coals
This world has burned to the ground
Now all that is left is death’s sound

    Echoing through the night
    As darkness casts no light
The wrenched souls begin to melt
As their eyes begin to wilt

Dragging their bodies across the burnt ground
As their skin boils to levels profound
Nothing can be said or done
As the desolates has just begun

    The world grows increasingly hot
Causing their brains to begin to pour like snot
The liquefied brains paint the street
Be careful not to slip watch your feet

You can still hear their teeth shatter
Even when they no longer matter
Their long gone voices still singing
As for they will forever be left ringing

The void of darkness is flowing
Like a river gushing in the morning
    Eroding away the old world
In preparation for the new world

I can see the desolates as it forms
    Across the ground like storms
    It grows stronger and stronger
As the evil rises in wonder

What can it be the world asked
    As everyone gasped
    The darkness is everywhere
    And we are going nowhere

The desolates rises with its six arms
Its six tails acting as forearms
Destroying what is left of the world
As its six eyes find things to be hurled

The sound of the desolates is rising
As I approach the ledge I can feel my heart sinking
As I look across the desolate ground
I search for the answer I have not found

Whewwww!! OK. Round Four. You're killin' me, John. This definitely is destruction exemplified. Some of the scenes you paint remind me of "The Hunger Games" trilogy--can't recall now if it was in "Mockingjay" or "Catching Fire"--the devastation. Not to say that this is a repeat or any replica of The Hunger Games--not at all! This is yours. It is graphic and impactful. Not exactly what I like reading. However, like The Hunger Games, I cannot help but appreciate the conciseness and artistry of your words. You certainly know how to write a poem! Please, please keep writing; you have such a talent. Your poetry is so good. You make it almost seem effortless, though I ask myself, "How can these poems be effortless? They're so good."

I do not yet know where your series is taking me. I will soon find out. However, since the second poem The Penitant, I have been thinking that all of these poems should be published on ONE THREAD! Of course, keep the ones you've posted as they are. But make your own thread for these particular-linked poems. It would make it easier for poetry lovers to follow, turn to, and read over and over (rather than trying to find each individual poem). And if you wish to add more to the "story," that is your thread and you may do so!! Please consider this. I did something similar. I posted these little poems and felt afterward that some of my own [not yours!] poems are so small, they don't need a thread for each one. So I opened my own thread to post the little things I write--poetry, prose, and proverbs.

However, yours would make even more sense to put together because they belong together; they stand well all alone, but as a set--Wow! what an impact!

Are you going to college? If so, you could make a real splash and some great grades with your English professors!
    ------------
P.S. In this particular poem it stands out to me: Could the "Desolates" be capitalized? I am thinking this would be appropriate because you're defining something in particular (except for the latter line "As I look across the desolate ground"). It is a matter of taste. To me it would define more clearly that which or they who are coming. (Perhaps this is true of the previous poems, too, I don't know. But in The Inception, it stands out clearly to me.
