Second song, I posted one yesterday which was pretty flat (it was generic and not from the heart)
Anyway so I started on this straight after it as if I was writing it to somebody who wasn't having the best time, by the time I got to the chorus I realised I was writing a song to myself, pretty much describing myself in the lyrics. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this where they have realised what they are writing about when they are half way through writing it.
So the lyrics below sort of relate to my feelings regarding my current position at work, how i've yet to leave my parental home, and how little pride I take in my material possessions.
Anyway on my second song which is below, its the first time i've had an emotional reaction to something i've wrote, not sure if this is a good thing but it's very strange for me anyway.
Anyway feedback on the lyrics below would be welcome, to work out what sort of music would accompany it think of us as a very british rock band, influences such as Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Subways, The Courteeners.
Anyone who gave feedback on my last song that I haven't yet responded to regarding there work i'll be doing it shortly.
(VERSE 1)
Behind the mistreated hair,
And drink stained eyes,
There’s a glimmer of hope,
That hope brings light,
How did you let it go this far,
(Verse 2)
Behind your desk,
On your tie strangled neck,
There’s a person in there,
A hopeful wreck,
How did you let it go this far,
(CHORUS)
How did it come to this,
What are you living for,
You’d change but fear the risk,
You’ve been here before,
You’ve been here before,
All your worldly possessions,
Is a rented car,
Tires flat like your soul,
It’s gone too far,
It’s gone too far,
(VERSE 3)
The inside of your bedroom,
Reflects who you are,
A half read book,
A half learnt guitar,
How did you let it go this far,
(VERSE 4)
There’s photo’s on the wall,
From a decade ago,
You’ve wasted 10 years,
Could have 70 to go,
How did you let it go this far
CHORUS
(VERSE 5)
I know I can change it,
A chance is all I need,
I’ll wait but never pursue,
As if the chance needs me,
