Oldie song need artist and title

Every once in a while these lyrics run through my head.

I tried Googling and no answer:

The words contain: One step, two step, three steps over the line:

Another part is: I say come on let's go baby, you say it's no good.

Mixalopoulos, I appreciate your effort but that is not the song.

If I can recall other lyrics it seemed to be: "I keep saying let's go baby, you say it's no good, you blow my mind with reasons you act the way you should... We got to get our selves together."

That's as close as I can come... I am very sure the first 10 words are correct and the rest is close. This was probably in the late 60'2 to late 70's.
