My mother died in June, 2010
I hit bottom like I'd never been
I hit the bottle, nearly lost my mind
Laid in bed for days at a time

2011, I was mugged on the street
He stole my wallet, cell phone, and keys
An ambulance came, took me to the VA
They let me go, said I was okay

I'm on the Other Side Of 10/11

Got a few years to right a few wrongs
Got a few years to play my songs

I learned how to function at 67
Won't say it's better, it's just not as bad
Can't say I'm happy, just not as sad

No, the world didn't end in 2012
Had to look in the mirror and face myself
The Mayans didn't know so much after all
I'm still alive, still avoiding the law

The women get younger every year
I'm taking a chance, nothing left to fear
There's still time for a Renaissance
I can hear Donna singing "Last Dance"
