PlayTime
Chorus:
Superman's face on my pillow
Playing Tarzan on a weeping willow
Nothing else to do but pass the days
With a friend and catch a few rays
Max Headroom on my TV
Catch as clever Bryce can be
Went and stole my heart no denying
Did it without even trying.
First Verse:
When you're young, you don't remember
Shoveling snow in December.
All that you think about is Christmas Day
In the spring you don't mind the rain
You just relax with a video game
Its all right as long as you can play
Bridge:
There is no reason for you not to play
Just because the toy came out after your day
Chorus:
Superman's face on my pillow
Playing Tarzan on a weeping willow
Nothing else to do but pass the days
With a friend and catch a few rays
Max Headroom on my TV
Catch as clever Bryce can be
Went and stole my heart no denying
Did it without even trying.
Second Verse:
They say there's a time to put away
All your toys and no longer play
It's the day, or so I'm told
That we each start growing old
So I'm going to keep on playing
Do you understand what I'm saying
Like Peter Pan I'll stay young
Fountain of Youth's having fun.
Bridge:
There is no reason for you not to play
Just because the toy came out after your day
Chorus:
Superman's face on my pillow
Playing Tarzan on a weeping willow
Nothing else to do but pass the days
With a friend and catch a few rays
Max Headroom on my TV
Catch as clever Bryce can be
Went and stole my heart no denying
Did it without even trying.

Despite my ability to truly appreciate it as much as some of the older members on here (no offense guys) but this is still a beautiful song for many to relate to. I'm only 26 and I still yearn for 'younger days' lol. Great way to reflect on things.
We're a little bit stranger on the inside -
Anybody who mentions Max Headroom in his lyrics has got my attention. This is how a good song is written;the words jump right off the page.I could "sing"them in my head without half trying.Check out "Getting Old Blues" by me,natch!I think you'll like it and it has a familiar theme to it!

I never stopped being a fan of Max Headroom. I'm really glad that you like the lyrics. Though I must confess I took certain liberties with the truth. It was actually Fonzie whose image graced my pillow. But the first lyrics I thought of was the second line, and try as I did to use his name, none of the rhythms using it seemed to click in my mind.

I remember Max Headroom had an interview show on CineMax and was interviewing Rutger Hauer about his favorite film role.He said," when I played a character similar to you;I was a robot in Blade Runner, that was my favorite part"!Just thought you'd like this.

Ah yes. The Max Talking Headroom show. Loved the joke about the spinning newspapers.
-
It was mostly visual. But it went like this: (imagine each line on a spinning newspaper):
Max and Cinemax in talks on train.
Talks break down.
Talks resume.
Train breaks down.
Talks and train resume.
Max breaks down. Doctors blame spinning newspapers. -
If you're not familiar with the Max Headroom character or show, this would be hard to understand. But,since I'm very familiar and a huge fan of both,it's very funny! Thanks for the post.

Actually produced this recently with a really good musician from Germany called Howie. It's on cocompose if you want to hear it.
