I think this is the original lyrics:
Τι να μου κάμει η σταλαγματιά που λάμπει στο μέτωπό σου;
So you really do love "Amorgos" huh?
Gatsos is a great poet.
Consists a member of the "Generation of 1930" of Greek poets.
"Amorgos" is his only published poem, in which you can understand that he was affected by surrealism.
He mainly wrote "lyrics", that caused the enrichment of the use of Greek language by the uneducated Greeks.
(Till 70's Greek education wasn't properly organized for the whole population)
So I belive him to be a "Teacher" of Greeks.
He met Hadjidakis in 1942, and they became friends for life.
They cooperated in many of Hadjidakis' works, but Hadjidakis felt that he had to write music for "Amorgos".
Both of them never had the chance to listen to the final release of the music work of Amorgos.
The CD of "Amorgos" pulished more than a decade after the death of both of them.

So to answer your question:
Yes this is a part of Hadjidakis' music on Gatsos' "Amorgos".
As for the translation ... read the following link (of YOUR thread btw ) -> http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=136719
You should search in the free translation's given link at the middle of no 2
I hope this will help

And of course I prefer the version with the only MUSE of Hadjidakis, her name was Flery Dadonaki
in there you can listen to Hadjidakis playing piano.
(Non-professional recording during 1970-73 in NY, I belive)

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
Thank you for the very helpful and informative reply. And sorry for plaguing you again with a question about Amorgos.
