These are three song lyrics I wrote today.
They're not in your standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorusx2 structure, and they don't have many conventional rhymes. But that's okay, because these lyrics aren't for a pop band, they're for a post-rock/folk/progressive rock band. Tell me what you think, what you think doesn't sound right, what you'd repeat and change. I'm open to anything!
Thanks
-Warm-
The storm falls
Upon the windowsill
As we drink our wine
By the glowing hearth
The day is drunk in wine
We lay and listen to the fire
And the rain,
We lay and listen to the fire
And the rain.
-Journey to the Sun-
As we rode towards the sun, I asked
“If we ever reach it, what’ll we do?
What if it’s too hot for me and you?”
“Ah”, you said as you knew:
“It may be too hot, it’s true;
But the warmth we gain along the way
Is worth it.”
So as we rode around, I lost all hope
Of climbing ropes to golden globes
Weary eyed, I took a rest, and basked
In a nest of sunlight.
“Ah”, you said, as you knew:
“It’s way too hot for us, it’s true,
But the warmth we gain along the way
Is worth it.”
-The Anchor-
Ignite the mast and drift through the muddy blue
The wind blows a vessel alight with the flames of you
It sings me an elegy, whirring and whimpering on
While you’re aflame in the arms of the ocean
Light it up and come back to me
Come back to me, come home
Light it up and come back to me
Come back to me, come home
Ashes and dust scatter the stormy sea
The anchor is down, a sunken mossy tee
Rekindle the fire; break the chain from the stone
Drive the ship onwards and bring it on home
Light it up and come back to me
Come back to me, come home
Light it up and come back to me
Come back to me, come home.
