A New Start
Verse 1
Like a ship on stormy waters
That makes a tragic choice
Don’t follow in his footsteps
Just listen to my voice
I’ll tell you a story
of what happened to him
He gave up on his dream
Verse 2
When he was young
He had a lot of hope
To play some chords
Not to choke
What happened then
Well its hard to say
The easy way out is the price you pay
Chorus
Time is a thief
For your hopes and dreams
Weighs you down
With it’s schemes
To live in a world
So far apart
It’s never too late for a new start
Verse 3
He moved on
With his life
Had a good job
Had a good wife
A white picket fence
In the town that he grew up
Tries not to think of
What he gave up
Verse 4
Now and then
He picks up the axe
Writes down a song
Lays down a track
Tries to remember
The passion he once felt
Asks himself
“Why the safety belt?”
Chorus
Verse 5
The daily commute
Is mundane at best
Doesn’t complain
Keeps it close to his chest
Stuck in a rut
Feels like a grain of sand
On an empty beach
That has no end
Verse 6
Its time to change
And do what you like
Musters his courage
Goes to an open mic
The crowd is in love
With his songs
Now that he’s back
To where he belongs

I read the first couple of verses and fell in love with these lyrics because it's the story of success. I literally jumped out of my seat to type this (I was previously laying back and chilling). This is good. Love it! I am literally... GAH! Like, I can't even emphasise how passionate I am about these lyrics now! Ha ha. Love it. Keep going.
