I can only remember a few lyrics from this song I heard on a Spotify playlist a while ago and can't remember it and its driving me insane!

It was an American (I think) male, singing a sing about meeting a woman (at work?), they get married, they have kids, she dies and he has to go on living life...

The only lyrics I remember was something like...
"We raised a couple kids... then she died the next day"

I feel like the song was sung about a particular womans name like "Alison" or "Mary Anne" or something and that the chorus pretty much comprised of the bloke singing "Oh XXXXXXX"

It is a beautiful but depressing song. Quite melodic and predominantly guitar finger picking.

It has driven me mad trying to remember for over a year now so any suggestions welcome!!
