Default Is the use of growth hormone justified?

Lately I’ve been thinking about whether using growth hormone is actually justified outside of clear medical conditions. A friend at my gym told me he was considering it to “optimize recovery” and slow down aging, and that got me wondering. I know HGH is prescribed for certain deficiencies, but now it’s also talked about in fitness and anti-aging circles. On one hand, people say it can help with body composition and energy. On the other, I’ve heard about side effects and long-term risks. I’m not judging anyone, just honestly curious — where do you personally draw the line between medical need and enhancement?

I’ve looked into this topic a bit because a few guys I train with were debating the same thing. From what I understand, growth hormone absolutely has legitimate medical uses, especially when prescribed and monitored by a doctor. At the same time, when it’s used for performance or aesthetic reasons, things get more complicated. I came across https://atoxbio.com/, while researching what products are even available on the market, just to understand what people are talking about. For me personally, I think the key issue is supervision and realistic expectations. Hormones aren’t like protein powder — they affect the whole system. If someone is considering it, I’d say at least get proper blood work and medical advice first. Long-term health matters more than quick results.

Reading this thread is interesting because it shows how much attitudes around health and performance have changed. Years ago most people wouldn’t even discuss hormones openly. Now it’s part of everyday gym conversations. I think it’s good that people are at least talking and asking questions instead of just blindly following trends. Whatever someone decides, I hope they take time to research, listen to different perspectives, and think long term. Our bodies aren’t something we can easily “reset,” so thoughtful decisions really matter.
