Cool Μέχρι Μαϊ μήνα- Δέσποινα Βανδή

Surprise!!! I thought about a feminine dessert for today!!! SOMEONE will know what I'm talking about! For the rest of you, I appologise, don't mind me!

I am totally, madly in love with this song. Actually it's more than "I like it" it's an obsession, I'm addicted! I drove all my neighbours crazy!!!
I struggled mountains to find it and I did it(long live "hellas angels" ) . It was only natural for me to want it translated!

Will SOMEONE take a look and tell me what's wrong in there? Παρακαλώ!!!!!

Μέχρι Μαϊ μήνα -Up to the month of May

Όποιος με κοιτά πιστεύει απλά Who looks at me thinks simply
Πως είμαι τόσο τυχερή That I am so lucky
Που δεν θα έπρεπε ποτέ That it will never be supposed
Να νιώσω λύπη That I feel regret

Μα όσοι με κοιτούν But those who look at me
Απλά κοιτούν Simply look at me
Στην επιφάνια κολλούν At the surface they stick
    Και αγνοούν And ignore
Αυτό που αληθινά μου λείπει What I truly miss

Πως χωρίς εσένα είν’ η ζωή μου βαρετή How without you my life is dull/boring
Μοιάζει με Έργο που δε βρίσκει θεατή It resembles a play that doesn’t find spectators( It looks like a play without audience)
Και η μοναξιά μοιάζει με θάνατο αργό And the loneliness resembles late death
Να ΄ξερες πόσο ανάγκη έχω να σε δω You (should) know how much need I have to see you

    Για αυτό... For this

Κάθε μέρα όλη μέρα περιμένω- Every day, all day I wait
Μου είπανε να σε ξεχάσω, μα επιμένω- They told me to forget you, but I insist
Στολισμένη απ΄ τα Χριστούγεννα βιτρίνα, Dressed up at the Christmas window(
Έμεινα για σένα μέχρι Μάη μήνα I remained for you up to the month of May

Κάθε μέρα όλη μέρα περιμένω Every day, all day I wait
Μου είπανε να σε ξεχάσω, μα επιμένω They told me to forget you but I insist/persist
Ντύθηκα, στολίστηκα γιατί πιστεύω Dressed, adorned because I think
Θα ΄ρθεις και θα μου χτυπήσεις να κατέβω You will come and you’ll knock for me to come down

Πίσω απ΄ το χαμογελό μου Behind my smile
Εγώ μονάχα ξέρω και ο Θεός Only I know and God
Το τι περνώ και το σταυρό What I take and the cross
    Που κουβαλάω That I carry

OK! Finished eating, feel alive now! Time for dessert!

I really have doubts about a few things in this translation(not that I pretend the rest to be corect):
    1. "Που δεν θα έπρεπε ποτέ That it will never be supposed
Να νιώσω λύπη That I feel regret"

θα έπρεπε ..is supposed, is expected, ought...? ...And it is never expected from my part to feel regret? ...

    2. Στολισμένη απ΄ τα Χριστούγεννα βιτρίνα
Ok, this one is really tricky Στολισμένη means being "dressed up" like for the holidays, best clothes, all accesories, make-up, hair-cut, etc! LOL! βιτρίνα I know exactly what it means cause we have the same word(vitrina). Now, is the meaning: I stay dressed up near the Christmas..vitrina OR I stay dressed up like I am FROM a Christams vitrina?

    3. μα επιμένω- I insist as in "I keep going with what I'm doing" ?

    4. Θα ΄ρθεις και θα μου χτυπήσεις να κατέβω -You will come and you’ll knock for me to come down

This ΄ρθεις really annoyed me. Why can't they just write the entire word?!

και θα μου χτυπήσεις να κατέβω - you'll knock at my door so that/in order for me to come down and open?!
(If I am to joke here: OR: "for me to come down from the Christmas vitrina where I've been waiting for you like a doll?" LOL! LOL! LOL! )

These are my "questions" for this song. Of course, if there is something else wrong, I will kindly ask you to point at it!

    Ευχαριστώ!!

    First of all ... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    You "got" it ... or, rather ... "SHE" (Greek) got "you" ... ... ... !!! ... ... ...

    Regarding your "annoyance" ...

In Greek it is usually the case that "vowels" get "dissipated", ... when a word "ends" with "one" and the "next one" starts with, ... either the same "vowel", or a different "vowel" ... ... ...

Apologies, for making it "hard" for you to learn ... !!! ... BUT, JUST like with the "accents" ... it is quite "easi-er" to "talk" !!! ... ... ...

I know about vowels "dissapearance" when they .... meet in the middle, but I tried all combinations in order to get the word for ΄ρθεις. In the end I found the entire expression( Θα ΄ρθεις ) translated elsewhere, so I still don't know the verb!

Yes, now it is indeed better!

έρχομαι?!...I could have looked for one hundred years and not find it, cause as you can see, it "really" resembles that ΄ρθεις. Geee! They have one letter in common!!!! That's a good hint! That would have left me like about a few billions possible combinations!!! LOL!!!

And, not to forget the essential: thank you for the revised translation. As always your translation sounds better than mine. Actually mine is for exercise, cause if I start to be poetic now, I'll miss the point of the lesson!! LOL!!

Lol... Seems like Mazonakis got an "enemy" now...
    "Ποιος ταξιδεύει στα μάτια σου;

    HI, Omorfi!!!

No, Mazonakis didn't get any enemy! It was just a song I'm obsessed with and it was also a test!!!
See, this thread doesn't look like all my other threads. It does have a translation, it does have questions and answers, IT IS usefull for my greek learning BUT it lacks that "something", that " je-ne-sais-quoi". It is not working. If It doesn't have the "brand" Mazonakis on it , it won't sell! It's as easy as that!
All the Mazonakis threads exceed 2-3 pages, at least, this Vandi thread will die here cause we'll be moving at The drunken girl!!!

Tomorow I'll bring another Mazonakis song, I promise!!!
