I do not know if this two are the same song but I love it! can some one please help me with the Greek Roman Transliteration, and English translation. Some one gave me a collecton of the cds 40 songs total and they are beautiful.

I will be in debt for life, please. Listen to the songs but do not know what I am listeneing too, except for a couple of I love you here and there.

I don't think this is the right song...The lyrics don't match the title. Which one
    are you sure about?

Πιο καλή η μοναξιά ( Το τραγούδι του Χάρη )
"Loneliness is better" (The song of Haris)---some name

Στίχοι: Γιάννης Πάριος Lyrics: Giannis Parios
Μουσική: Χάρης Βαρθακούρης Music Haris Varthakouris

Να ’χε χρώμα η μοναξιά If only loneliness had colour
    Na'he hroma i monaksia

στο χαρτί να ζωγραφίσω on paper I could draw
    sto harti na zografizo

να την κάνω θαλασσιά to make it sea-blue
    na tin kano thalassia

και αγέρα πελαγίσιο and wind of the sea
    ke agera pelagisio

Να της βάλω και πανιά To put sails on it
    Na tis valo ke pania

για ταξίδι τελευταίο for a last trip
    gia taksidi telefteo

λιμανάκι στο Αιγαίο port in the Aegean
    limanaki sto Egeo

η δική σου αγκαλιά (is) your embrace
    i dikh sou aggalia

Πιο καλή η μοναξιά Loneliness is better
    Pio kali i monaksia

από σένα που δε φτάνω than you whom I cannot reach
    apo sena pou de ftano

μια σε βρίσκω μια σε χάνω one time I find you another I lose you
mia se vrisko mia se hano

πιο καλή η μοναξιά loneliness is better
    pio kali i monaksia

Να ’ταν πέτρα η μοναξιά If loneliness were a stone
    Na'tan petra i monaksia

σκαλοπάτι να τ'ανέβεις a (stair-)step for you to climb
    skalopati na t'aneveis

να χαθείς στη λησμονιά to get lost in missing (i.e. a noun for missing someone)
    na hathis sti lismonia

για να μη σε δω που φεύγεις so I wouldn't be able to see you leaving
gia na mi se do pou fevgeis

Και να γίνεσαι καπνός And may you become smoke
    Ke na ginese kapnos

σαν τσιγάρο που τελειώνει like a cigarette that is finishing
    san tsigaro pou telionei

τώρα πια θα είσαι μόνη from now on you'll be alone
    tora pia tha ise moni

και θα είμαι μοναχός and I will be alone
    ke tha ime monahos

    Ah !!! Re onos mou, re !!! ... ... ...

    ... "Haris" ... is NOT "just" a ... "name" ... !!! ...

    It ACTUALLY "means" ... "Grace" ... ... ...

and depending on the "ending" of it, ... it is a "name" for both ... "male" and "female", alike ... ... ...

"This" ... PARTICULAR ... "song of Haris" ... is "Yannis Parios" ... "own" son ... !!! ... with whom, he sings the "original" version of it ... !!! ...

    (... just a bit more ... "tutoring" ... there ... !!! LOL !!! ... ... )

ΟΚ Αzimut I hear you! Also the composer of the music is named Haris...oh that's his son?
I did hear that Parios changed his last name to Parios because he loves his home Island of PAROS so much...what a freak! Note to Susan, Parios means "From Paros".
But if it meant "grace" it would be called Το τραγούδι της Χάρης... (female noun) or spelled as Χάρις in the old Greek style---c.f. the famous singer Haris Aleksiou-Χάρις Αλεξλιου.

hehe Azimut. I'll take my description off the profile if it is insulting in some way
What are YOU? Translation is your hobby no? I just got into it very recently which is
why i'm so amateurish. But I've always loved language...

I'd love to be a musician instead... but science is actually way cooler than lots of
other jobs and many similarities believe it or not, like being responsible for something of
"your own" and bursts of "creativity" among boring stretches when you find something
cool. Actually I'm still not done school--supposedly writing my thesis but more often I'm browsing the web--I'll be done in a couple months hopefully. I don't think I "inflated" my profile though. But it'll be cool
when I get to put Dr. Onos on it. HAHAHAHAHA

p.s. I'm glad I made you laugh. I didn't even try. I find that this happens a lot.
Now the question is, are people laughing AT me or WITH me ???????

ΟΚ that's good advice. Wires get crossed a lot between myself and other people...
I mean "between myself and people", for I am an onos...check out my new profile.
Would you have done anything differently in this song?

I'll keep that in mind...If you want to tell me go ahead but in general, I'll read up on some of your posts to get an idea of the "style". But don't you think the
final reader should do most of the interpretation otherwise too many wires might get crossed and
the final result will be quite strange. But of course, in language, some idioms sound ridiculous
in the other language if taken literally...so that's the duty of the translator...but beyond that???

    ... I am of the "idea" that an ... "interpretation" ... is to "be" ... "left" ... as it is !!! ... !!! ... !!!

    It is very much a "human" ... "characteristic" ... to make ... "comparisons" ... !!! ... !!! ... !!! ...

    ... and, not ... "striving" ... towards "things" like "that" ... !!! ... !!! ... !!! ...

By the way, ... thank you for "honouring" me with your ... "visitations" ... (you'll find there are quite a "few posts", out there !!! LOL !!!) ... !!! ... ... ...
