This song is always on war films, its a full metal jacket style film song.

    The main chorus goes:
ONE da daa, TWO da daa and then there is a little link line here, I think it was something like 'come dance with me now' or something to that length before it goes back to the start.

The da da bits are either brass instruments going ba baaa or I think there is another version with a group of men or something going hu huu. the dadaa after ONE is a note C and the da daa after two is about an E if I remember correctly.

Thats all I can remember really. Its not a common song, but eveyone has heard it and usualy remembers the ONE! TWO! bit.

    Enjoy...

Try "Come Dance With Me" by Frank Sinatra

Can you pinpoint a particular film it was played in - and if possible whereabouts in the film.

Was it like one of the "Paint it Black" type songs that were used all the time?

I cant think of the names of any films that its in. The only bit you generaly get to hear of it is the 'one' bum bum, 'two' bum bum bit. Yea, its a bit like paint it black, woolly bully etc.
Its alot more energetic than that frank sinatra one, and it goes at about half the speed. Its pretty hard to describe because you only ever hear the chorus of it.

I just had a brainwave: You wouldn't be talking about 'War' by Edwin Starr by any chance....it sounds a bit like ONE - TWO etc.

Try a listen here: WAR by EDWIN STARR

Just a side note. You might also want to give a listen to the cover version performed by Bruce Springsteen. Good find F A B.

I'll have to listen to that Springsteen one - I knew he did it but I don't remember ever hearing it...by him.
