Exclamation Γιατί καλέ γειτόνισσα/Why good neighbour.

i already have the lyrics to this song, but when on holiday in greece i have heard this song but by a different person, and the versions different, i don't know who this is by though, and i'm not getting anything from searching on the internet.

please help! can anyone tell me if one than more person has sung this song.
i think the version i have heard is by Akis Panou, can anyone tell me if its been sang by anyone else.

in greece it sounds like quie a big popular song, so i don't know why i'm not getting it on the internet anywhere.

    effharisto polli!

    here are the lyrics.
I found the door now closed
And the key parmeno.
    κοντεύουνε χαράματα Soon charamata
And from the outside waiting.

αφού σου τηλεφώνησα After you telephoned
και είπες πως θ' αφήσεις το κλειδί; And for saying that they would leave the key?
παιδεύεις την καρδούλα μου; Paidefeis the kardoula me?
γιατί με βασανίζεις δηλαδή; Because tortures that?

Πότε μου λες πως δε με θες When me and with all that you want
και πότε με γυρεύεις And never with gyrefeis
ας ήξερα πώς σκέπτεσαι We knew that thinks
And what god worship.

αφού σου τηλεφώνησα After you telephoned
και είπες πως θ' αφήσεις το κλειδί; And for saying that they would leave the key?
παιδεύεις την καρδούλα μου; Paidefeis the kardoula me?
γιατί με βασανίζεις δηλαδή; Because tortures that?

The song was first sung by Stratos Dionisiou. As I understand this is a well-known song, so I can only assume that a lot of singers may have sung it in various concerts. Akis Panou is the one who wrote the music and the lyrics.
Here is the song performed by Stratos Dionisiu:

I guess the translation you wrote was made with an on-line translator and that's why it doesn't make much sense. I tried to "fix" it a little, but I don't know if it's of much help, since I'm not a native speaker myself either.

Βρήκα την πόρτα σου κλειστή --I found your door closed
--And the key taken
    κοντεύουνε χαράματα--Joys come closer
--And outside I wait

αφού σου τηλεφώνησα --Since I called you(on the telephone)
και είπες πως θ' αφήσεις το κλειδί; --And you said that you'll leave the key
παιδεύεις την καρδούλα μου; ---(do) you teach my heart
γιατί με βασανίζεις δηλαδή; ---Why do you torture me like this?

Πότε μου λες πως δε με θες ---When** you tell me that you don't want me
και πότε με γυρεύεις---and when you look for(search for) me
ας ήξερα πώς σκέπτεσαι --If (only) I knew how you think
--And what God you adore

**I guess here the meaning of "when" is actually "at times":
At times you tell me you don't want me
At times you look for me

    Excellent dya!!!!!
**And yes at this point "πότε" = there are times when
The same thing for the next "πότε" in the song is also true
I'm impressed that you noticed this one "Bravo sou!".

As for the song yes dya you're right there are plenty singers that have performed it.
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"

Thank you, Amethystos I'm glad I managed to fix the translation.

The thing with when= there are times is exactly the same in Romanian so it wasn't hard to figure it out. We use "when" in the exact same way, both to express the idea of when and the idea of at times. Contexts like, for example: "Πότε γελας, πότε κλαις" are the same in both languages.

It's nice to hear that we have commons in our languages.

    hey! thanks for your help.
that isn't the song though! :S

i went on holiday to corfu in greece & one of my friends give me a cd, they said they got free in the newspaper, it had the eurovision logo on the front.

On the cd there was :

My Number One by Elena Paparizou.
    Sokolata by Sarbel.
Everyway that I can by Sertab Erener. (which is the turkish winning song of 2003 eurovision)
and two other i don't know.

When i put the cd into my iTunes, the song names automatically came up but i am wondering if they are wrong?
because it definatly says - Γιατί Kαλέ Yειτόνισσα and the song you have linked above is not that song.

In the titles 'my number one' by Elena Paparizou automatically came up as Αφιλότιμη.
is that wrong? does it say 'mu number one'?

please help! i really need the song.
i will try and listen to the lyrics and write them down but i am not very good with greek. yet!

    thankyou!

You should try to listen the songs that were on cd from youtube, and then copy the links here to confirm you the titles and then translate them (if they are not already translated!)

It's wrong. there's a well known song called αφιλότιμη but it has no relationship with Paparizou nor Eurovision song contest

I would suggest to try and find ESC song that represented Greece the past years

    Hope i helped

Yes there is a remake of song by Manos Tirovolakis which was included in the disk EuroREvision. Here is the link to see the cover (haven't found how to download it for free!)
    http://www.greekmusicshop.gr/eshop/p...productid=1999

And there was the last summer's remake which was based on the original version but had got some more beat in it... (Don't know where to find it also )

    Here are the lyrics
Music and Lyrics : Andrea Mikroutsikos

If you come and get dressed with my night
If you come and hide in my body
If you come and get entangled in my nets
You should know one thing: you won't be betrayed

It will be as if the spring came
It would be a sky devotion
It will be as if the spring came
    Suddenly

If we are open to the winds
If we are faithful to whatever we live
If our love's thread is tying us
    Our two bodies, hanging gardens

    Hope i helped
