Default SOLVED: Help Identify "Memory Lane" '80-81

I had a cassette of this "unusual" band back around 1981-1982, but it was lost long ago. I'm trying to identify and locate the band and/or songs. To the best of my old memory, the songs had a easy euro pop kind of style with a male vocal similar to some thing like Hair Cut 100, Human League, Spandel Ballet....

The first clue is a song probably titled "Memory Lane" and here are the lyrics I recall.....

    Part of the verse...

"Been Accused quite frequently, that I lack imagination
But my fear more recently, is of a new persuasion"

    Part of the chorus...

"There's enough gone wrong with my life so far
Couldn't stand it any other way
There's a place I tend to avoid these days - Memory Lane"

The second smaller clue was another song on the cassette that I barely recall. I can only remember one lyric line "Building Buildings". That was probably the title too.

As a final clue, I recall Memory Lane well enough to sing the melody, but I hope I won't have to. :-)

    Thanks for any help.

Hi Plaz - not sure if you are still around on the forum as you posted this a year ago.

I too have spent many years trying to track down this song. The only copy I had was on an old reel to reel tape which has long gone. No-one seemed to be able to identify it.

By sheer chance the other week I managed to track it down. It's by a band called The Sinceros from a 1981 album called Pet Rock and it is called "Memory Lane". Definately the song you are looking for ! There are one or two sites that devote a little webspace to The Sinceros. Seems that sadly the lead singer/songwriter is no longer with us.

Talk about delayed response...Thanks Nightfly! I was able to find the tune on youtube based on your info. Good to hear that quirky tune again after all these years. The second song I mentioned "Building Buildings" is by "The Elektrics" also 1981 on their album "State of Shock". Unfortunately not on youtube.
