Ditches

Some say I’m talented but I don’t believe them,
But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to be dragged into the limelight,
I just want to get there of my own accord,
I’d also be lying if I said I needed you to help me get there right.

This enchantment needs surveying,
Because I think the sorcery is weakening,
Now I can fend for myself and I don’t need you,
Now I can pack my own punch and don’t need your sting.

I used to bore the shadows to death,
But I’ve surpassed the excitement,
That you seem to thrive on,
And say I’m not normal - I can take the alignment,
This is me dragging myself out of a ditch,
The same ditch you dragged me into,
After dragging me out of a smaller ditch,
The ditch you were meant to fall in too.

Along the path of righteousness,
I met you pointing me in the wrong direction,
And I realise I fear you’ll leave me,
After giving me a sexually transmitted infection.

I used to bore the shadows to death,
But I’ve surpassed the excitement,
That you seem to thrive on,
And say I’m not normal - I can take the alignment,
This is me dragging myself out of a ditch,
The same ditch you dragged me into,
After dragging me out of a smaller ditch,
The ditch you were meant to fall in too.

These are my goodbye kisses,
I won’t be trapped in ditches,
Any longer,
The shores are drying up now,
It’s not you but more how,
I’m stronger… now…

I used to bore the shadows to death,
But I’ve surpassed the excitement,
That you seem to thrive on,
And say I’m not normal - I can take the alignment,
This is me dragging myself out of a ditch,
The same ditch you dragged me into,
After dragging me out of a smaller ditch,
The ditch you were meant to fall in too.
