PARADECHTIKA (sung by Alkistis Protopsalti) is in 9/8
Its originally composed by Goran Bregovic and I am sure you now the turkish version by Sezen Aksu (I believe its valled Dügün)
I only found this version in youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9veoDZta_JY
But I prefer the version of Alkistis, she has such a stron voice like Sezen Aksu
thank you Tahıra! yes really good song.I am a fan of Sezen Aksu I know dügün
thanks again:-))
Tahira thanks alot! Can you send me lyrics of this song??
Good morning Nurlev
look here: http://www.allthelyrics.com/forum/gr...radertika.html
It´s been already done.
MAy I ask why you are looking for this special kind of music?
good morning Tahıra of course you ask.I prepare a repertoire with greek songs.I sing these songs (I'm sınger)and love very much.Thank you for your help:-))
Oh great,
aren´t you from Turkey? Are you going to perfrom live or do you want to make a CD in a Studio?
yes,Turkey. For now I'm going to perform live in İstanbul.I suppose you are belly dancer .İt is great too:-))
by the way halley my second nickname:-))Nurlev
So we should stay in touch. I plan to travel to Istanbul in January again with my 2 friends. We need new costumes - there are 2 of the best costume taylors for bellydance costumes in Istanbul.
So when you are looking for greek songs I asume you are going to sing in some greek-turkish taverns in Istanbul? SO maybe you could tell me the place and we would come around, as we prefer traditional turkish restaurants and not not touristic places with high prices and only little quality.
Tahira
Tahıra ,I want to help you of course but now Im living in Antalya .Im planning go to İstanbul but I have to wait my husband's appointment (he is civil cervant)
Yes I am going to sıng greek-turkish tavernas.I have some connections for now.But I can some recommend you.You should go to Kapalıcarsı( for your costumes, anyway you know there) .I dont know traditional turkish restaurant.when ı go to istanbul usually eat fish in the sail.Maybe frıends live there can help you.I wish I can help :-(( sorry
Nurlevselam,
For 9/8, the most favorite song is mastika and I guess Greeks sing it too. Plus almost all trakya turkuleri have this oynak rythym. If you find common songs, I am sure you can sing them all. I bet there are also rebetika songs with this rhytym but I cant find it. I will ask a Greek friend, who is a master in Greek music.
thank you koukla I 'll wait
9/8 Karsimalas
1. Αϊδίνικο Ζεϊμπέκικο (Aydın Zeybeği)
2. Αργιλέ μου γιατί σβήνεις (Argile sou giati svineis)
3. Σαν τα Μάρμαρα της Πόλης (San Ta Marmara Tis Polis) (I have this one, great song)
4. Βάλε με στην Αγκαλιά σου (Vale me stin Agkalia sou) (Muammer Ketencoglu sings this and many others)
5. Πέντε χρόνια δικασμένος (Pente hronia dikasmenos) (Yedi Kule)
6. Στο Φάληρο που πλένεσαι (Sto faliro pou plenesai)
btw apparently mastika is 4/4 çiftetelli...so dont include that![]()
koukla thanks alot. You make me happy my frıend.May I ask you what is your concern with Ankara?.Because Im from Ankara :-))
Hi nurlev,
for my costumes I have my addresses; I won´t buy them at the Grand Basaar; I am dancing on high level and I need high quality stage costumes.
But I would be interested in the addresses of greek-turkish taverns. SO we could go there and have a good food, maybe with some music. So if you could ask for friends for some adresses it would be great.
Back to music: I have heard a greek version of Mastika. I was told that it is originally a greek song, but I am not sure. And i have also once heard a version of this song in 9/8.
As far as I know: 9/8 played quickly is called KARSILMAS,
9/8 played slowly it is called ROMAN
I was thinking over and over about greek 9/8 songs, but there didn´t come up more in my mind. When you go to "youtube" and search with the words "greek 9/8" there comes zembekiko music.
Have a nice day !
@nurlev
I'm karadenizli but was born and brought up in Ankara. I'm still living there most of the year.
@Tahira
I can give you some Greek taverns in Istanbul as well.
9/8 and 9/4 are the main rythyms of most Greek songs.
Oh please, thatīs great! Come on over with these addresseIf you prefer with PM.
Last January we have found a very good turkish restaurant in a very small street and we went there 2 days. It was typically turkish; The way to eat I know from Greece. Theay have had everything,a nd they didnīt speak english or german, and there were just turkish people there and so was the food. Great. And we have the plan to go there again, but if we could have some additional addresse maybe where they also play music.... We donīt want to go to "touristically spoiled places" where you pay high prices and get international food. Thatīs why I am asking.
Back to music: THe most greek songs I know are 4/4. Kazantsidis, MArinella, Glykeria - at least thatīs the music I grew up with.
