I wrote this a long time ago
But I found it
And it still means a lot to me....
i recently added to it so my band could make it an acoustic song
When We Fell From the Sky, I Bet We Were Beautiful Too
You know I’m a sentimental soldier
A class act with a heart of golden glass
A reject of reason
But not rejecting reasons
To make something of this
Something of myself
Something worth your time
I’m told the will of man is never counted out
Well I’m in doubt
I’m still wandering around
Without answer for myself
One day
The Sun came down from the sky
With a hook in his smile
And he spoke to me
He said
“A man with a plan is still a man, and all men die!
So why even try to compete with me? Why try?
When you can never shine as bright as the Sun?”
Well I guess it depends
On whose eyes you’re seeing through…
Well now you know I’m a sore loser
A cynical criminal with the best intentions
With halting advancements
They’re killing my chances
Of being something worth our time
In the process of cleaning up my act
So please come back
I’ve learned to love what I’ve become
And hate the man that I was
One day,
When the Sun had receded
The Sea came to be
And he came to land to speak to me
With his heart on his sleeve
He said
“A man with hopes is really just alone,
And you’ve got yours so high.
So why even try to change? Why try?
When no dream could ever be as vast as the sea.
Well I guess it depends
On whose eyes you’re seeing through…
Because to me
You are the Sun
You are the Sea
You are the air that I breathe
You are necessity
You’re making something of me
Something worth your time
The Sun will never shine as bright in my eyes
And I’ll dream about you every night
