Solved: R&B song from 2001-2002

There is a song that my wife liked a lot that came out around end of 2001 to early 2002 that she cannot remember. She doesn't remember enough of the lyrics to do a search on google for it, so I'm hoping somebody here may remember. She's trying to remember this from several years ago, so she may be off a little.

She believes it's a solo R&B artist that was introduced on the scene by Nelly (the rapper). This artist only came out with one album and from what she can tell it flopped pretty big, but it had one good song on it. She wants to say the title of the song could be "Candy Girl", but could be wrong. The song was about a guy driving by this girl every day and seeing her, but too scared to say anything to her. I know this isn't a lot of info to go by except for the artist got her record deal b/c he was friend with Nelly and the description of the song. I doubt this is enough info, but thought it was worth a shot.

but it's not by o-town. They remade it.. Anybody know who originally did this song?

I was able to track down the song. It's by Dante off his "Inferno" album that was never released due to the record company going under. So there are a few demos out of it, but that's about it. I don't know how my wife was able to get her hands on it, but since she lost her copy, I doubt we'll ever be able to find it again.
