I really LOVE this poet and ΥΜΝΟΣ ΕΙΣ ΤΗΝ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ, hymn to liberty is such a Beautifull poem !!!! REally amazing !
    It's also huge...
I would love t if someone could translate it, not the whole thing tight now but At least a bit of it... So that I can show it to the world, to my friends, so that they understand why I love greece and greek poems so much !
    Here ar the lyrics :

    Σε γνωρίζω από την κόψη
    I recognize you

from the great stab of the sword

i recognize you from the conqueror

who tresspasses our land with terrible violence.

    Taken out from the

    bones of the "holly" greeks

and fearless from the first time

    hail, hail Freedom!

    You were living in there

    distressed and shy.

and you waited desperately for a word

    «έλα πάλι», να σου πεί.
    to say "come again ".

    'Αργειε νάλθει εκείνη η μέρα,
That day was coming too slow

    and all were silent,

    cause they were afraid

    and buried from the slavery.

    Poor! Consolation

    you were saying all alone

    the glories of the past
    you were narrating , crying

And they were waiting , and waiting

    to speak free

and the one arm was hitting the other

    from the despair,

And you were saying: " When , when i will

put out my head form the slavery?"

And they were answering from above

    with cries and shouts.

And then you raised your sight

    between the cries

and in your clothing the blood was running

    much blood , greek blood.

i hope that i helped.....i suppose u know that the first two paragraphs are the Greek Anthem

I have the translation of 6 verses, in a poetry translation book if that's of any help

    1.
I know you by the sharp blade
    of your terrifying sword,
I know you by the form you made
taking the earth as victor lord.

    2.
    Sprung from Grecian bones scattered
    hallowed on every vale,
    with your old valor unshattered,
Liberty, hail to you, hail !

    15.
Yes, but your sons, your offspring
now fight with all their breath,
    and unceasingly are seeking
    either victory or death

    155.
    "Images of the Most High
can't you hear my cry of pain
    Centuries have passed it by
    but its echo does remain

    157.
What then? Will you allow us
    to struggle and become freed?
    Or will you disavow us
    due to politicians' need?

    158.
If this is then your decision
here, before you stands the Cross!
    Crush it, Monarch, to oblivion,
crush it, help to wreak our loss"
