need help again

Γειά σας
I came across a song of Γρηγόρης Μπιθικώτσης called "Μια γυναίκα φεύγει". A wonderful song, very poetic I think, and although I've managed to translate most of it, the last sentence however puzzles me

Just to bring you in the (appropriate) mood:

Μια γυναίκα φεύγει

Μαραμένα μες το βάζο τα λουλούδια
λυπημένα σε ένα κάδρο αγγελούδια
δίπλα η βρύση με ρυθμό στάζει φριχτό
τρίζει η πόρτα κι είν' το σπίτι ανοιχτό

Μια γυναίκα φεύγει μια σωστή κυρία
τα βήματά της σβήνουν μια θλιβερή ιστορία
κάνει κρύο κι η βροχή πάγωσε στην στέγη
μια γυναίκα φεύγει, μια γυναίκα φεύγει

Στο τραπέζι ένα γράμμα πεταμένο
το ρολόι στις οχτώ σταματημένο
φεύγει ο χρόνος και το χθες είναι νεκρό

==Κλείνει η μοίρα το ρομάντζο το πικρό==
