plz HEKIMOGLU TURKUSU translation
-
somebody help me!
-
my kin are called hekimoğlu (lit., son of physician)
i had a martini-henry rifle with mirror made for myself, my narin (*)
i had mansions with pillars of marble built
hekimoğlu, if you ask my narin, is lion-hearted
i had mansions built but i couldn't make them furnished
ünye and fatsa joined their forces, my narin, i couldn't cope with them
an army was formed between ünye and fatsa
he whom you called hekimoğlu was shot too
---
(*) my narin: narin, meaning delicate, slim, elegant etc, may be the name of his sweetheart or the way he calls her. -
That's a wonderful translation.. I have always loved this turku (maybe because it was easy enough for me to learn it - not too long, the words not too hard, and the melody just plays itself in my head every now and then, like an old friend)
Could someone please tell me if Hekimoğlu was a real person? Is this song based on a legend, or does it refer to a particular bit of history? And what is the story of Unye and Fatsa - I know they are towns(?) on the Black Sea coast - are they historic rivals? -
This is my favourite song and I was looking for translation. Thank you.Now I love it even more
