This is my first attempt at lyrics. It's a blues song that a friend wrote and he asked me to write lyrics for him. I had a dream and while writing it down I realized it was a good idea for a song. I've adapted it somewhat. Thanks!

on a sandy cliffs edge
wondering, searching for me
looking for what was lost

The setting sun lit your features
A lone tear illuminated
I sunk into the sand next to you
To see a smile offset the fading light

Our eyes met as the light began to dissolve
Shimmering waves mirrored off your dark pupils
We looked into the setting sun together
As last light disappeared

I awoke to the voice of a rumbling ocean
My eyes turned to find you
but the only indentations were my own
I came to the realization
As a bittersweet longing traversed my bones
