Hi, I'm looking for a song, and so far, Google has been of no help... I heard it at work, where the music comes in from an external source (not a radio station though). Sometimes they play fairly recent pop-like stuff, but at the moment it's more swing/jazzy-type stuff, a mixture of classics and newer songs/versions. The song I am looking for has more of a lounge-like sound, a bit slow and muted. (They also play Faithless - Music Matters, that would be the closest to this sound I think) The singing also isn't very clear, rather drawn-out. The singer is female, and perhaps there are 2 women singing together (or one voice layered maybe). The pitch is fairly high.
The bits of lyrics that I caught are as follows (they may not be precisely this, but should have these main words):
(trade) your life for allegiance
and the chorusey bit, which is not quite the same lyrically every time, more of a variation each time:
(variation 1)
watch as the people (are) gathering round now
one man (he) speaks ... down now
(variation 2?)
thousands of people follow him round now
one thing that is very distinctive about this chorus bit, is that those first 2 lines always end in what sounds like 'now'.
Can anyone help me find this song?
