Hey,
I couldn't find the lyrics for "Draw the line" (Matt York) in the internet.
I think the reason is that Matt York isn't very famous.
So I tried to listen to the song in order to get the lyrics, but I'm german and really have problems with understanding many parts.
So please, can someone whose mother tongue is English help me?
I'm afraid you might not find the song in the internet, this is the only place I found it: http://uploads.mp3songurls.com/05%20...the%20Line.mp3
And here's my very incomplete and likely totally wrong version of the text, I really had an issue with understanding Matt York:
Yellin’ (?) thousand years
Will we look back and say that we work fair
Yellin’ (?) thousand years
Will your beauty still me there?
Building(?) buildings,
Building buildings to satisfy our needs.
But I need and want the same thing yeah, yeah.
the same things change direction, change direction, oh, oh.
Now it’s time to change d…(?)
Yeah we hurt each other
We pretend we’ve seen nothing
Pretend we’ve seen nothing ooh
In all I hope that,
We love the medicines( ?) offered here
In all I hope that,
We don’t hold the world watchin’ for
So we’re all the same, no we might be different.
In all I hope that,
Your sm…(?) draw the line(?)
Daring thousands things about the way we living
In while we choose to live this way
Ye…(?) Sign we don’t even know our neighbour
Working we’ve been killing, (?) giving, yeah.
Now it’s time to change d…(?)
Yeah we hurt each other
We pretend we’ve seen nothing
Pretend we’ve seen nothing ooh
In all I hope that,
We love the medicines(?) offered here
In all I hope that,
We don’t hold the world watchin’ for
So we’re all the same, no we might be different, we might be different.
In all I hope that,
Your sm…(?) draw the line(?)
Yeah, yeah, draw the line(?)
Yeah, yeah, mmh oh…
Brilliants are im…(?),
Mule(?) s..(?) in the lane(?)
…(?) on a corner (?)
Strummin’ for your change
s..(?) …(?) cryin’
she knows it’s not right
….(?) poems
Are on the streets
Now it’s time to change … (??)
Yeah we hurt each other
We pretend we’ve seen nothing
Pretend we’ve seen nothing ooh
In all I hope that,
We love the medicines(?) offered here
In all I hope that,
We don’t hold the world watchin’ for
So we’re all the same, no we might be different, we might be different.
In all I hope that,
Your sm…(?) draw the line(?)
Yeah, yeah, draw the line(?)
Oh, oh, n…(?) draw the line(?)
Yeah, s…(?) draw the line(?)
Oh, oh…
I would be very glad if you can correct it, or better rewrite.
Greetings,
Sinan
p.s.: Sorry for my perhaps bad English...

Hey Steena, thanks for trying it. I also hope there's someone who can understand the rest.
This forum is really great, I've just discovered it while searching the lyrics of this song.
I think you did a big part of this song, thank you -
Hi Sinan2792, Hi Steena,
more changes to consider. I agree, it is very difficult to clearly understand many parts.
In a thousand years
Will we look back and say that we were fair
In a thousand years
Will the beauty still be there?
We build buildings,
Building buildings to satisfy our needs.
But are needs and wants the same thing yeah, yeah
seems we’ve changed direction, changed direction, oh, oh.
Now that signs have changed all/on
Yeah we hurt each other
We pretend we see nothing
Pretend we see nothing ooh
And oh I hope that,
we learn the lessons offered here
and oh I hope that,
we don’t hold the world and watch it fall
seein’ we’re all the same, though we might be different.
and oh I hope that,
we all smarten up and draw the line
There are times I think about the way we’re living
and why we choose to live this way
in a time we don’t even know our neighbor
What can we be giving, giving, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, draw the line
Yeah, yeah, mmh oh…
? on a bridge is,
Mozart’s in a lane
Hendrix on a corner
Strummin’ for your change
seein’ Mona Lisa’s cryin’
she knows it’s not right
and prodigies & poets
Are on the streets
And the signs unchains us
Yeah we hurt each other
We pretend we see nothing
Pretend we see nothing ooh
Just yeah, yeah, draw the line
Oh, oh, now draw the line
Yeah, then draw the line
Oh, oh…Wenn man dem Hass freien Lauf läßt, wird er die Seele von innen zerstören. -
But you did a great job, Macbard!
I would stick to my "most things start in a lane" line since he wants to express that it's the people who start revolutions by going outside. But still you never knowहोता है जो होना है ... वक़्त ही शायद खुदा है ...
कौन कहता है आदमी अपनी किस्मत खुद लिखता है? -
Thank you two very much for it!
I've just asked Matt York himself... =P
He will post the original lyrics here, I think
But nevertheless: thanks for your work!
This forum is really great! -
Hey, sorry for the late answer.
I think I missed the first mail of Matt York, so he sent it one more time.
Here it is, and thank you for your help!
And also a huge thanks to Matt York!!!!
And the ending might be the one you two wrote down here
In a thousand years, will we look back and say that we were fair?
in a thousand years, the beauty still be there?
We build buildings, building buildings to satisfy our needs
But are needs and wants the same thing? I think we've changed direction, changed direction..oh
Now the times have changed us
And we hurt each other
We pretend we see nothing, pretend we see nothing
Oh I hope that,
we learn the lessons offered here
Oh I hope that
we don't hold the world and watch it fall
We are all the same, though we might be different
And oh I hope that
We all smarten up and draw the line
There are times I think about the way we're living
and why choose to live this way
In a time when we don't even know our neighbour,
what can we be giving, giving?
Now the times have changed oh,
And we hurt each other
We pretend we see nothing, pretend we see nothing
Oh I hope that,
we learn the lessons offered here
Oh I hope that
we wont hold the world or watch it fall
We are all the same, though we might be different
And oh I hope that
We all smarten up and draw the line
Brilliance under bridges
Mozart's in the lane
Hendrix on the corner
Strumming for your change
See Mona Lisa's crying. She knows it's not right
That prodigies and poets are on the streets
Now the times have changed, oh...
And we hurt each other
we pretend we see nothing, pretend we see nothing
Oh I hope that,
we learn the lessons offered here
Oh I hope that
we don't hold the world or watch it fall
Said we are all the same, though we might be different
And oh I hope that
We all smarten up and draw the line
