Default Recognise John James Brown was a traveller bold?

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me recognise this song, it was released i think in the 1950's
the lyrics I can remember are:
John James Brown was a traveller bold
He went away in search of gold
He sailed but not upon an ocean liner
but travelled on a double barrelled express train and landed in an island called malina
the canibals cheered and the natives came and ruled with the mighty sway and he fell in love with a pretty little thing and he wooed her in his way

    refrain:
    oh my southern maid
    say you'll be mine
and you'll have rings upon your fingers bells upon your toes and every little flower from the tulip to the rose if you'll be mrs john james brown from the Honolulu isles

    thanks for your help

Hello, It is Southern Maid but it is very old. 1915? Perhaps it was remade in the 1950's. If somone can show me how to make music playable here I can submit the file I have of it.

Upload to either of these. It can then be played from there. Hope that helps. Oh and it's free of course.

Thank you bobb1 I am thrilled that you were able to identify that song. It was very generous of you to go to all that trouble
