Hi,

I need help to correct the lyrics and translation of that version for Hani Metwasi.
The first part is similar to the traditional one but I had to copy the second part by ear so I guess there ara some mistakes such as :

1) I don't know if he says قاللي or قالت. I guess he says قالت but قاللي makes more sense.

2) It's hard to understand wich word he says on the second verse. منديل is just a guess

3) Not sure about the words امتى and تاني افرح.

Is that correct between people ?


قالت بدي و ما بدي يا عيني
She told : I want and I don't want
بدي منديل أحمر ورد
I want a red rose kerchief
و امتى بتجي لعندي يا عيني
And when she returns to me
تاني افرح ما بين الناس
Again I will get happy between people

And when she returns to me
when you come to me oh my eyes
تاني افرح ما بين الناس
تنفرح ما بين الناس
Again I will get happy between people
so we can be happy among people

1) أول عشرة محبوبي يا عيني هداني خاتم ألماس
(celebrating) the first anniversary of our relationship my beloved presented me with a diamond ring. Is it correct this translation ?

2)هو قصدي و مطلوبي يا عيني
He (my beloved) is my aim and my wish / it (the ring) is my aim and my wish. Lol. Which option is the correct one ?

3)هيدا اللائق بين الناس / this is the right thing among people
Is he talking about the act of giving gifts to the beloved ?

4)I know that in arabic poetry the standard rule is to say "he" no matter the partner is either a man or a woman. So there is any special reason he says قالت instead of قاللي / قال ?

5) Is امتى not an interrogative particle or it also can be used in affimartive sentences ? Maybe should be better to say :
و امتى بتجي لعندي يا عيني
And when does she come back to me ?

6) I didn't understand the translation of تنفرح into we can be happy/will be happy. My problem is that first "T" lol.
My guess -----> فرح (basic root)-----> اِنفرح(verbal form VII) -----> تنفرح ---->you(only one) can be happy but the pronounce should be tanfare7 instead of tanifra7 . Could you explain what means that first "T" ?

the first anniversary with my beloved he offered me a diamond ring

really i don't know,there is a little paradox ,beacause the singer is male,but the original singer could be a woman because she said that he offered her a diamond ring,i don't think that women offer to men diamond rings don't you think so???

this "T" does express cause or a target ,exemple "tanekol"=so we can eat,ta ekol=so i can eat,it is used only in syrian dialect
