i am confused with the usage of "ma" in arabic.
because in certain times like ma fich madrasah it means no school
and then ma hiya is who is she? or ma ma3na? what does it mean this "ma"?
besides mother of course.

ma means Not.. ma fi madraseh - There is NO school (the no here is due to the usage of Ma)

and its pronounced with a short A sound as in Apple, not like Ma - mother in English

ma heyi would mean "but she" ex: ma heyi eli balashat ma3i "BUT she started with me" here ma is the negative usage of "but" in the sentence

MEEN heyi means who is she

I guess it depends all on the countries and dialects.. hope it helps.. once you learn other terms and proper usage then with simple context clues you will figure out which version of ma is being used
