Enta el shita wala el khareef
Are you the winter or the autumn?
Enta el wa9el wala el jefa
Are you the connection or the dryness?
La 9eyfak alga fih 9eyf
I don’t find the summer in your summer
Wala fi rabee3ak li wafa
and in your spring there’s no loyalty towards me
E7tart ya 3omri ma3ak
Oh darling, I’m puzzled by you
Galbak ma7yarni ma3aki
your heart baffles me
Keyf alga fil donya redhak
how in the world can I please you?
Wenta el fo9ool el arba3a
and you are the four seasons
Awgaat a7es ennak ma3ay
At times I feel you’re with me
W awgaat a7es ennak ba3eed
and at times I feel you far (from me)
Galbak yedawwar 3an hanai
my bliss revolves around your heart
W fekrak 3la ayaami shareed
but your mind doesn’t care about my days
7ayraana laken wesh agoul
I’m perplexed but what (can) I say
Bel 9aber galbi agna3o
I persuade my heart patiently
Ma been 9adak wel gobool
between your refusal and your acceptance
3asht el fo9ool el arba3a
I lived the four seasons
7asasni marra bel amaan
Make me feel safe for once
W ennak men e7saasi gareeb
and that you are close to my feelings
W enel hawa 7ob w 7anaan
and that passion is love and tenderness
Been el 7abeeba wel 7abeeb
between the (two) lovers
Me7taaja el ayaam el rabee3
I need the spring days
Te7dhan hawaya w tajma3o
to hold our love and bring it together
Akhaaf ana galbi yadhee3
I’m afraid my heart will get lost
Been el fo9ool el arba3a
among the four seasons
Enta el shita wala el khareef
Enta el wa9el wala el jefa
La 9eyfak alga fih 9eyf
Wala fi rabee3ak li wafa

Citlalli love your translation is excellent! Minor corrections...
wela is or... Are you the winter or the autumn
wasel is connection, but jafa is more dryness than cruelty...
3isht not 3ishiqt, so I lived the four seasons
hassisni = make me feel
Make me feel safe once
and that you are close to my feelings
and that passion is love and tenderness
It carries on from above Citlalli, I need the spring days...to... hold our love and bring it together
But amazing translation -
Shokran kteer for taking the time dear! I really appreciate it
Aha!! I normally find hard to identify when it's "or" , when "and/but not" and when "not even"(except when I see at the end of a question "wala eih?" lol )
But "connection" to what or whom?is this some sort of idiom?
Even if there's no "ya" after the "3ain"? that's what made me uncertain about this word...
Thanks again 7abebty! sorry for asking so many questions“If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.” ― Terry Pratchett. -
Walaw hayati anything for you!
I suppose not is mish, and no is la2. Wela is or
It is an idiom, but hard to explain. She's asking are you my soul mate or a famine...
يعيش is present
عشت is past
Maybe thats what you mean by there not being a ya? If I put a ya after the 3ain though (like you suggest) it would be عيش which is also a present. 3isht is the past tense, just remember arabic uses the same 'roots' for different words.
Hope I helped! -
Thanks a lot!!
Yes, of course you helped a lotfahma kollo delwa2ty wel 7amdulellah
Ahhhhhhh.... I thought the "ya" was part of the root of "to live"“If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.” ― Terry Pratchett. -
No hayati ya infront of a verb makes it present tense
-
Yes dear, I know that
I didn't mean in front of "3ain" but after it. Ya3ni, I thought the root of to live was عيش with the ya squeezed between ع & ش
“If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.” ― Terry Pratchett. -
Anyway, you already told me 3aish is (with the ya) is part of the present and without it is the past... sorry, I just have problems with some roots
but nothing that can't be solved inshallah!!
