    Cool Fairouz - Bayee ra7 m3 al3skar [*]

Hi! I posted asking for help on some Arabic songs 2 months ago. I received much help, but like a jerk I waited till now to thank those who graciously helped me . Thanks again! This time I will be much quicker to thank!

Here's the song. My Syrian Arabic dictionary only goes English-Arabic, so I could not look anything up, and when I tried to look up words in my FuSHa dictionary I could not even find the roots of the words in the song.

Here it is. The video has the lyrics in it.

    بيي راح مع هالعسكرك

بيي راح مع هالعسكر حمل سلاح راح و بدر
my dad went with the army, he carried a weapon and shined

بيي على بيي عمر حارب و انتصر بعنجر
my dad raised, my dad built, fought, achieved victory in ANJAR ( city in Lebanon)

    ختلك زواده عالكرم البلوادي
I brought you breakfast to the garden in the village ( or huge farm)
شاهدوا ما لم تشاهدوه في اي مكان اخر
watch what you haven't seen anywhere else

صور صور صور صور صور صور
(this part isn't included in the song so i have to hear it to translate it cause it may means Pictures or SOOR the Lebanese city )
    قلتلك خبرني حكايي حكيتلي عابلادي
I asked you to tell me a story about my country
شفت جبال العم تتمخطر و مزارع تخضر و تكبر
I saw the great mountains and farms getting greener and bigger
و لما طلعنا سويي عالضيعه الجرديي
when we went together to the village
قلتلك هالسمرا حلوي بس بعيدي عليي
i told you that brunette is beautiful, but i can't reach it.

قلتلي في صفرا اكبر بدنا نتعب فيها اكتر
you told me there's a bigger (food) table we have to work harder to get it
يا بو السيف القاطع ملعب خيلك واسع
you with the killing sword, your horse field is huge
و قواص الزيني منصوبي لعزك انتا و راجع
and the ornament arch are set for your pride when you come back
و الصبايا ترش العنبر و بلادي عايدك تعمر
and the girls throw jasmine and my country on your hands is getting build.

True to my promise, I have responded! Thanks so much, Louie. I have a question, however. I have never heard the word بيي used for father by any of the Lebanese people I know, and I cannot find it in my dictionary under "father" or "dad." Does it mean only "father" and does it come from FuSHa?

    Thanks so much again.

Also I did not know "lem" was used in colloquial Arabic.

بيي really means MY FATHER, but there's no way you can find it in the dictionary because its a SYRIAN/LEBANESE TERM for MY FATHER. so in EGYPT they say " APPA" in Palestine/ Jordan we would say " YAPPA" or "PAPA" whichever you like you can use, I personally call my dad "YABBY" and when I speak of him as a 3rd person I'd say بيي"
