Hayashi does a stunning job singing it, but my weak Japanese fails entirely when trying to translate such a beautiful coloratura voice. Please help with the lyrics to this piece.

A VERY rough Latin translation of the lyrics comes up thusly:

I'm sure "weasel" is not the actual word - I'm still struggling with it but I suspect this is "mother sea" or something similar.

I've converted the first part of the lyrics to something that matches the meter of the work for English speakers. Its also very rough but again I'm still working on it.

It's vast and so cold, but still,
We're so warm, here in this great family,
With mother sea, who nurtures us beneath the waves.
