    Default Black theama - Ba77ar

    Hi ,

I need help to correct my translation of ba77ar a very nice song for a new egyptian group - Black theama.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTHwuh41iNo

    http://www.4shared.com/file/12421562...112/Ba7ar.html

    بحار ..خايف من المشوار
    Ba77ar...khayf men el meshwar
Sailor....I am afraid of the journay
    في البحر و انتا بعيد
    Fi el ba7r w inta ba3eed
By sea when you are far
    الموج تملي يزيد
    El maug tamaly izeed
    The waves always rise
    و يخبي في الاسرار
    W ikhaby fi elasrar
    and hide the secrets

    محبوب.. و مفيكش اي عيوب
    Ma7boub ...w mafiksh ayy 3ayoub
Darling.....There are no defects in you
    مهما تغيب عالعين
    mahma tegheeb 3al3aen
Whatever you move away from view
    نورك على الشطين
    nourak 3ala eshshaten
your light/the light of your eyes spreads out over the shore
    حبك قدر مكتوب
    7oubbak 2adar maktoub
Your love is a certain fate

    وناس بتحب كل الناس
    wa nas bet7eb kull ennas
people might love their fellows (???????)
    صوتك يونسني
    sotak iouanisni
    Your voice comforts me
    من نظرة تهوسني
    men nazra tehouisni
With a look you get me confused
    وعنيك قمر من ماس
    w 3aynek 2amar men mas
And your eyes are like a diamond moon

    وبدور و بعدي اي بحور
    W badour w ba3adi ayy ba7our
full Moons and ?????? wichever seas
    تندهلي و انا اروحلك
    Tendehli w ana arou7lak
call me but I just go to you
    تحضني و ابوحلك
    Ta7oudni w abou7lak
hug me but I just reveal myself to you
    ده الحب عصفور نور
    Da el7oubb 3asfour nour
This love is like a bird of light

    Thanks in advance

Great translation, I found no mistakes, but helping you with this:

    وبدور و بعدي اي بحور
    W badour w ba3adi ayy ba7our
full Moons and ?????? wichever seas
correct trans.: full moons and after me what seas
and the completion of this line's meaning is in the next which you've already translated:
    تندهلي و انا اروحلك
    Tendehli w ana arou7lak
call me but I just go to you
The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

Thank you Sohuda. I had translated that phrase just as you did it but it didn't make sense for me. I guess he says that no matter full moons and seas call him he allways will go to his beloved. So my question is : How ba3adi is related to badour and ba7our ?
I guess there will be more sense if he says :
    w badour w ba3adak ayy ba7our tendehli w ana arou7lak or even W
ba3adak ayy badour w ba7our tendehli w ana arou7lak . Hope you help me to understand that verse. Thanks again

ohhhhhh! I got it!!! I haven't listened to it, so I listened to that line now! and it's a different meaning!
    here:
و بدور و بعدي اي بحور تندهلي وانا اروحلك
    w badoor w ba3addy ay b7our betendahli w ana baro7lk
and I spin around and cross whatever seas that call after me and I go to you
The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

I see...................so badour is not the plural of badr (full moon) but it is the 1st person of the present tense of the verb dawwar (to spin around/make turn around)

    thanks again

    Bye

yes bodour is the plural of bdr.. but this is a verb that is in the song 'badour' it's slightly different in pronunciation but same writing in arabic
The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

Salam to all, I have some more comments to say...
    Respectfully to all

    بحار.. خايف من المشوار
This as you are telling story about a sailor... (and could mean himself... sailorman )
A sailor... afraid of the journey...

في البحر وانت بعيد (and not وانتا if you wish to write it in Fus7a)
In the sea... (as if you're in the middle of it. You used by, which gives you the meaning that you're beside it)

ويخبي فيه الأسرار (and not في) if you used fi the meaning won't be complete, fi what?... but when you say feih, the ha2 pronoun refers to the see.
And that why your translated sentence wasn't complete.
it'll be: it hides secrets in it.

    ونـــّاس بتحب كل الناس
Wannas from the verb you did in the next line يونس: it means amusing person who you like to listen to his speech and enjoy it as well. (I think ونيس is more common)
Amusing, (and you) Love all people

    وبدور وبعدّي أي بحور
بدور: means circulate, Here it could mean: I go over seas, and cross any sea (or all the seas)
and b3addi, with shaddah over dal

    تحضني وأبوحلك
You hug me and I reveal you my secrets

This's just jumped into my mind
for وناس it's as we call it صيغة مبالغة from ونيس

(In fact I felt that line was strange and doesn't suit in its place, when it was translated as, and people love...)
