Debu - Ya Laitani(Nasheed*)

Can someone please translate this beautiful nasheed into English?
I would be very grateful if you could also write the Arabic lyrics with latin letters.

يَا لَيْتَنِي

خَرَجْتُ يَا مُنَى الْقَلْبِ
ْ
عَنِ الْحُضُوْرِ وَالأُنْسِ
فَأَيْـنَ لِذَّةُ الْعَيْــشِ
ْ
وَبَهْجَتِي لَدى الْهَجْرِ
ســَأَلْتَنِي عَنِ الصَّبْرِ
ْ
فَمـَا هَذا لَدَى حَالِي
فَفِي الْغُرْبَةِ وَالشّـَوْقِ
ْ
أَعِيــْشُ قَدْ رَأَيْتَنِي
وَلَيْسَ لِي سِوَى الْحُزْنِ
ْ
وَأَبْكِي كَذَوِي الْجُرْحِ
فَهـَلْ تُرَى رَأَيْـتَنِي
ْ مَتَى دَعَوْتَ 'اِرْجِعِي'؟

this is standar arabic (arabic of the Quran) it can be hard to translate and not accurate,but i did my best,if there is any particular word that you don't understand just let me know,and any other suggestions are welcome

يَا لَيْتَنِي
ya laytani
i wish

خَرَجْتُ يَا مُنَى الْقَلْبِ
kharajtu ya muna al qalbi
i wish i went out Oh my heat"s goal (wish/purpose/tendency)

عَنِ الْحُضُوْرِ وَالأُنْسِ
ane el hudhuri wal unsi
of the attendence and the intimacy*
(that seems pretty meaningless to me but i jut translated word by word)
فَأَيْـنَ لِذَّةُ الْعَيْــشِ
fe ayna ledhatu el ayshi
where is the sweetness of living
وَبَهْجَتِي لَدى الْهَجْرِ
we bahjati leda el hajri
and my happiness when leaving
ســَأَلْتَنِي عَنِ الصَّبْرِ
sa'altani ane essabri
you asked me about patience
ْ
فَمـَا هَذا لَدَى حَالِي
fema hadha lada hali
it's not my state now(patient is not how he is)
فَفِي الْغُرْبَةِ وَالشّـَوْقِ
fe fil ghurbati we shawqi
ْin strangeness and longing
أَعِيــْشُ قَدْ رَأَيْتَنِي
a'ishu qad ra'aytani
you saw me living
وَلَيْسَ لِي سِوَى الْحُزْنِ
we laysa li sewa el hozni
and having nothing but sadness
ْ
وَأَبْكِي كَذَوِي الْجُرْحِ
we abki ka dawwiyi ejjorhi
crying as the roar of the wound
فَهـَلْ تُرَى رَأَيْـتَنِي
fe hal tura ra'ayteni
i wonder if you saw me
ْ مَتَى دَعَوْتَ 'اِرْجِعِي'؟
mete da'awte erje'i
when did you pray for me to come back?

This is fus7a Arabic, right? I was also kinda suspecting it to be so, as it's a nasheed, and was afraid it'd be too much work, so thank you very much for taking the time, çok teşekkürler canım, shukran kteeeer!

Oh hearts desires, I have gone out/left..

عَنِ الْحُضُوْرِ وَالأُنْسِ
ane el hudhuri wal unsi
the people and guests who are present here
**al7’6oor meaning “guests”.. alUns means “people”

فَأَيْـنَ لِذَّةُ الْعَيْــشِ
fe ayna ledhatu el ayshi
where is the sweetness of living

وَبَهْجَتِي لَدى الْهَجْرِ
we bahjati leda el hajri
and my happiness when leaving

ســَأَلْتَنِي عَنِ الصَّبْرِ
sa'altani ane essabri
you asked me about patience

فَمـَا هَذا لَدَى حَالِي
fema hadha lada hali
so what is it with me and my state now
**when is says “ayn lithat el3aysh wabahjati lada elhajr” meaning that before he was happing when it was all over, but now he’s wondering what has happened to him because, as it explains in the next few lines, he has changed and is now living in sadness and so on..

فَفِي الْغُرْبَةِ وَالشّـَوْقِ
fe fil ghurbati we shawqi
in strangeness and longing

أَعِيــْشُ قَدْ رَأَيْتَنِي
a'ishu qad ra'aytani
you saw me living

وَلَيْسَ لِي سِوَى الْحُزْنِ
we laysa li sewa el hozni
and having nothing but sadness

وَأَبْكِي كَذَوِي الْجُرْحِ
we abki ka dawwiyi ejjorhi
and I cry like the one who are wounded
**thawy means “those who have”

فَهـَلْ تُرَى رَأَيْـتَنِي
fe hal tura ra'ayteni
i wonder if you saw me

مَتَى دَعَوْتَ 'اِرْجِعِي'؟
mete da'awte erje'i
when I called out to you “come back”
**here da3wa is meant as ad3eeh ela something .. meaning I call him to do such and such .. I hope I make sense =P

@Plainchaos:yeah this is fusha arabic dear,it was not too much work dear,it is just fusha and people can understand everyone on his way ,that's why i asked for more suggestion,so as for me i guess Gole Yas's tranlation is more accurate

I just have one question, the title says "ya laytani", how come it means I wish? I mean can you explain to me what is what, isn't ya normally used in 2nd person singularis, you, or?

Yalaitani means "i wish id..."
theres usually more to the sentence ..

yes "ya" usually means that yours refering to someone else .. but here its not read as Ya Laitani .... its considered as one word

Ay, this is totally diffrent dear PlainChaos' cım, yani this is not a part of the verb, moreover, "ليت" is not a verb
You meant يـَ as in يأكل، يشرب this is what you meant, değil mi?
If so, this "ya", يـَ is used for the third person.

This "Ya" means: Oh, Oh, I wish... umm yani the same as the Turkish one Ya
يا ليتني
يا: Oh
ليت: wish
ي: I


I wish I helped you a little bit dear

Oh (يا ...) you helped me a lot, more than you can imagine, thank you!
and yes that's exactly what I meant!

Well, I was listening to this nasheed cd in the car, and this was the only Arabic one (or I actually think there were 2 others) in the album and I liked it a lot, the rest of the songs were primarily Turkish (sung with an American accent I guess ) so I just wanted to know what the song means and to be able to sing along

But Plain listens to both slow and upbeat rhythms, and sometimes even mixes it all up, that's where Chaos comes into the pictures Lol

I believe that the word أنس came from أنيس, which means affable, so it should mean affability... not people.

I read somewhere that Debu is a band consisting of 12 members, most of them are American, with other members from England, Sweden and Indonesia... The singer is not Turkish, as I said, I think he's American cause he also has accent when he sings in Turkish

yeah honey we use yalaita to express a wish that it can be sometimes mixed with regret

example

yalait ashababa ya3udu yawman = i wish youth comes back one day
or
yalaitani fa3altu dhelika = i wish i did so

it's something impossible,you just wish but it can never happen

as for "if only" the exact translation in arabic would be = law fakat
in turkish you say "bir......se"
exemple
sen bir bilsen=law ta3ref fakat=if only you know

it is used like yalaita,but as i see,yalaita is more used

i hope i made it clear

@Oriee .. In The Quran .. it says (قال الله تعالى) "aljini walUns" (صدق الله العظيم).. here it means people =P .. and my mom is an arabic teacher =$ i asked her =$
so it Miight mean that .. or what you said .. depends how you put in it context ..

But what's with the yalaitani then?

Yalayt (fus7a equivalent of ya rayt) = How I wish...

Yalaytani (fus7a equivalent of ya raytni) = I wish I ....
i.e the song title refers back to what the person wishes they had done
