For إلامَ, this is a question form, that means only used in asking questions cases, it means to what, where, and I think it's shortened from إلى ماذا. So if you want to ask what are you looking at? you'll say إلامَ تنظر؟ in the elongated form إلى ماذا تنظر؟

For حيث I feel it gives the meaning of place with no direction. It can be used as:
ذهبت حيث تشرق/ تغرب الشمس أو
ذهبت حيث مشرق/ مغرب الشمس (mashriq/ ma3'reb is اسم مكان a place name 'I hope you know اسم المكان')

sawba, sha6tra, na7wa
They are all alike, with addition of direcion (it's good that you mentioned them because they didn't come to my mind )
You'll use them as
ذهبت صوب مشرق/ مغرب الشمس
ذهبت شطر مشرق/ مغرب الشمس
ذهبت نحو مشرق/ مغرب الشمس
ذهبت ناحية شروق/ غروب الشمس with preference of using the other 3 forms.

Hi everyone! I have come across this proverb "Every day of your life is a page of your history", can someone please translate it with Arabic font. Also, does anyone know who said this proverb or its origin? Shukran :-)

I translated what you said literally: كل يوم من حياتك صفحة من تاريخك and then I did a google search, but I only got english results so I dont know where this proverb came from and I havent come across it before either Maybe someone can help?

maybe another example: he departet to [the place] where the children rush to steal strawberries from the farmers (...my fantasies are fantastic today )

I mean, there are two places: 1. place of departure and 2. destination (which is where the children rush to...) ... rush to does not indicate any direction, it is "rush to do something" like hurry to do something...like yubaadiru ila...

And between there is direction.

Like: I went to the post office. >>> Post office is the destination. And paraphrased: I went to [the place] where people hurry-scurry to get their letters sent

while the last part is a paraphase of post office.

where the sun makes haste to blur the houses at all is a paraphrase...

I don't know how to explain differently, it's, that in Spanish we have hacia donde, hacia indicates direction and donde place, so "to where", word-for-word-arabic would be propably ila 7aithu, which sounds clumsy...

EDIT: or maybe my thoughts are too twisted? That spanish author wrote hacia donde, and I want to translate it understandable...

I think 7aithuma and ainama mean "wherever"...

رحلت باتجاه المكان الذي تسارع في الشمس لتغشى البيوت
ويمكنك استخدام "صوب"، لا بأس بذلك حتى وإن استخدمت "إلى" تفيد نفس المعنى
